Also, keep in mind that the samples go through the analog overdrive, filter, and amp, so it’s not as if there’s a lack of sound sculpting options. Also, I’m assuming you can modulate stuff like sample start, loop points, etc. giving you even more modulation options.
With a bit of clever programming and smart selection of your source samples, you can probably create a wide range of sounds and performance setups you’d associate with 80s hybrid synths, wavetables, and classic samplers with analogue filters such as the Mirage.
Having said that, I’m still a bit sad there’s no way (yet?) to sample from the analogue inputs on the AR; I’d love to be able to sample directly from my other synths and then tweak further on the AR without having to get my laptop involved.
