Analog Rytm OS 1.70 Upgrade

Does it transmit to the track midi out if enabled?

How so? Did the machine get less wooly? I’m talking around the 250hz to 350hz range. Rytm is (was?) a wooly beast.

Ok got my unit ready with 1.70, awesome.
First thing I tested was LFO-ing Offsets for the SY CHIP machine. Unfortunately it doesn’t get quantized to the closest semitone… Anyone bothered ?

Just checked the manual, it’s actually much more than just TR-style variations. You can select which track is effected by page looping!

If your pattern uses multiple pages, you can select which pages you want to play and loop. While in normal playback mode, press and hold [PAGE]. The [TRIG 1–4] keys light up. While holding [PAGE] you can press [TRIG 1–4] to select which pages you want to play. For example, if you press [TRIG 2] and then [TRIG 4], pages two and four will play and loop while skipping pages one and three. On top of this, you can also select which track you wish to be affected by the page playback selection. While holding [PAGE] press the [PADS] to exclude/include a track to be affected by the playback selection. Unlit [PADS] shows that a specific track is excluded and will instead play back all steps assigned to it. You can also press and hold [PAGE] and then press [FX] to exclude/include the FX track. Press [PAGE] + [TRIG 16] to resume normal pattern playback of all pages. [PAGE] + [TRIG 5-15] or [PAGE] + [NO] also works.

doesn’t sound good - so is it not snapping to the integers ?

This statement is now invalid yes, and has been removed from the new manual. I think you are looking at an older version of the AR MKII manual.

Nope, it’s too bad, I was hoping it would generate nice weird melodies.

it may not be intentional, it does have a utility i suppose (microtonal ftw), but is it in the chiptune spirit or was it overlooked

i don’t like tagging folk and i urge others not to, but @ThomasJ has been contributing, it’d be nice to hear if this is behaving (i haven’t yet looked myself) as expected whilst the news topic is still minty fresh and the Elektron folk are looking in !

It is now possible to see which PARAMETER PAGES contain parameters with parameter locks. When pressing and holding specific trig in STEP RECORDING mode, the [PARAMETER] keys that contain parameters with locks light up.

Is that supposed to be for step recording mode only?
I initially misread it as grid recording, yesterday and thought I had a bug, but if it’s meant for step recording mode only, everything went smooth.
I guess I read it as grid recording, because it makes sense to have the parameter page and retrig leds light up when holding down a trig, just like the trig mute, accent, swing and slide leds do and just like it works on the OT with scenes.
Would certainly be nice to have that, but we can always just flick through the pages.

Also just thinking does it also spit out the midi for the notes too so we can use it to sequence other things with euclidean too!?

This has me thinking that Rytm was the easiest to release this feature on first as it has the simplest form of external sequencing.

A4 has the CV layer and the Digis have more advanced Midi capabilities.

Oh man. There was something to the sound that was always difficult for me to work with.

I got along much better with the ST in that regard. Even when using the same engines.

The Rytm gain staging was always just a bit much for me to balance in a quick moving workflow.

So if there was a slight, miniscule change to the gain staging on the Rytm, I’d love to know.

Anyone else notice anything here?

okay, it’s not snapping as stated

It can sound odd in context, but, but, you can make vibrato happen on an individual note - rather nice when you slow things down on the arpeggiation

Press [PAGE] + [TRIG 16] to resume normal pattern playback of all pages. [PAGE] + [TRIG 5-15] or [PAGE] + [NO] also works.

I doubt its anything altruist, I’m not naive . Just wanted to give a prop to the elektron humans who have some agentivity in the capitalist machine and manage to do it slightly differently than the dominant model.

I will test this tonight and let you know

Thanks for this incredible update.
I’m confused about something…

A new pitch envelope parameter has been added to BT CLASSIC

I don’t see any “Pitch Envelope” parameter in the BT Classic machine at all. Was this forgotten?

@Rich303 It’s there on mine, just one parameter, but sounds great. Next to decay is sweep depth.
You can get really tight basses with the depth turned up.

Thanks for the tip. But I dont want the Page Loop. Because When you press the Page button to make FILL, you stop seeing your mute page tracks and ALL Pads turn green during the time you are making your FILL/Retrig. And If you want to make a FILL and unmute another track or two you can´t do it. You have to stop pressing the PAGE button to go back to MUTE page. I Hope that i could explain. Maybe I can do a video demo later.

best,
