Got my first Elektron product recently, and just watched this video, right at the end about velocity https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zf7HILvicRU&t=29s, So I’ve set every pad to not respond to volume velocity as in the video. So only 3 pads out of the 12 work as expected. So what am I missing/is there something up with the pads? Analog Rytm mk 2, cheers.
in the video, the OP turning off velocity to volume for every sound, which imo only needed if you need to use the velocity mods or you definitely don’t want velocity to affect the volume, either way, this method is too time consuming to just play/record fixed velocity sounds.
there’s a FIX button right next to the TEMPO, if it’s on, the velocity will be fixed, you can change to how much in the [FUNC+FIX] menu.
or, if you want to record velocity sensitive trigs from the pads but preview the sounds in full velocity, you can trigger the sounds from the trigs instead of pads when you’re not in recording mode.
both of these are way quicker then editing the Velocity to Volume per sound.
Thanks, I’ll have look.
Hello again. Just to be clear, I’m trying to figure out if the pads on this second hand mk2 Rytm are a bit goosed. In the settings menu, I’ve set every pad to OFF regarding velocity to volume. My kit triggered from the trig pads sound all even volume as they should. I’ve noted your suggestion of function and fix and set it to 127. Now if I press the pads from 1-12 with a firm but even press on each pad, only pads 3,5 and 8 respond as expected. Anything else I should be looking at ? Cheers.
you can test the pads functionality in test mode by holding [FUNC] when turning on and selecting [1] for test mode, they should glow up when pressing harder, it could be that some of the pads bit more unresponsive then the others and in general the pads do require a certain force to trigger them.
also what you can do to further test it is disable the SYN part and load a sample to every track, this way you should have same equal sound on every pad, you can try playing the pads in FIXed velocity and see if something wrong with some of the pads.
is that a grey or black rytm btw? I remember seeing reports about older grey rytms with all kinds of pads issues…
