Analog Keys with 8 voices and full keyboard. Possible?

Hi All,

Would an analog keys with 8 voices and full keyboard be on the roadmap?

Cheers

I don’t see Elektron going into Nord territory… I don’t think it’s in their DNA.

Have to agree with Cuckoo. Right now the AK & A4 are essentially the same machine under the hood. An 8-voice machine would not have the same degree of compatibility.

Also, a full keyboard machine would not fit in an overhead bin, and even with the AK Electron seems pretty focused on making machines that can travel with you to gigs.

It’s technically possible for it to be made, but I think it’s improbable that Electron would make it.

Keep in mind that with sound-locking you can make the four voices sound like much more than 4 voices. You can effectively have a different sound on every step of a sequence.

You can also tune the sub osc to a 5th, tune one of the main OSCs to a musically-pleasing interval, and have a full chord in a single voice. Then use sound locking to switch to different versions of that sound with different chords…all still in a single voice.

Four is only limiting if you let it be.

Four is only inspiring if you let it be.

However, it sure would make sense for Elektron to make it so you can seamlessly polychain an A4 to the Analog Keys to indeed have those 8 voices, even if all the FX affect all 8. THAT surely could be implemented and I am of course talking about much more than basic midi sync.

its too bad elektron doesnt put proprietary connectors on their machines for something like voice expander modules, or easier connections between units, etc.

Yes, and it would be great if it was possible to transfer projects sounds, patterns etc… by usb between units.

Well, that wouldn’t work. USB client to USB client doesn’t make sense. But can’t you just transmit sysex from one to the other over a normal midi cable?

Thanx for explaining - I never tried Midi to Midi tho, iI have to try …

Thanks for the replies.

Well - Nord doesn’t make analog gear. So would not compete directly. Nord gear also doesn’t have sequencing capabilities what is a good plus for Elektron boxes.

And would fulfill players that play booth hands.

I think it would be a great keyboard.

I prefer them both apart - A4 + AK - much more possebilies- and Cuckoo just posted an idea how to achieve 8 note polyfony by splitting the keyboard of the AK !!!
