According to Elektron’s AK Overview on their own site, the Joystick can have up to 15 (FIFTEEN) assigned parameters:
"[Performance optimized
The Analog Keys is tailor-made for the stage. The 37 semi-weighted keys of the keyboard give instant fingertip control of the analog tones. The special performance mode offers direct access to user-defined parameters, and the joystick, capable of controlling up to fifteen parameters, allows for extreme morphing of sounds. Improvising when playing live has never been this easy]"
"[Can I use the Analog Keys as a MIDI controller?
Yes. Press the dedicated MIDI Ext button and the Analog Keys will operate as a MIDI controller keyboard. The keyboard, the encoders, and the joystick can now control external MIDI gear. The MIDI channels and CC parameters to be used in MIDI Ext mode are completely user configurable.]"
Since the new A4 O.S. 1.1b Reference Manual does not cover nearly all of the AK functions, as expanded multi map with assignable sounds per key and purposed meanings of dimmed/bright/active LEDS…and fact Elektron even states one can have the A4 sequencer playing it’s own tracks while you can simultaneously hit the midi controller button and use the keys to at same time play our other midi synths…no, I am not confused, nor do I mean external sequencing via midi…there’s much to be gained by knowledge yet disclosed about Analog Keys and once a Reference Manual for AK is posted for download, hopefully once these things are cleared-up so we can know how well or not the AK will fit in our particular set-ups; Elektron definitely will be selling 5 AK’s amongst keyboard players I know and frat with in my Metra area and music scene.
