Hello music lovers, I wanted to operate my S4 tractor controller with an analog Heat MK2. As a MIDI interface I use the Motu MK5, which is also selected as the sound interface in the tractor. How do I integrate Analog Heat MK 2 into my setup to use it as an effect and sound source? Thank you

While I don’t have an S4 nor do I DJ (my partner does), I do have Traktor Pro 3 and an Ultralite MK5. If Traktor supports external sends then, somewhere in the Traktor audio setup, you would use a pair or Line Out (3 and 4 perhaps) to the AH inputs then the AH outputs back into the UL5 (line inputs 3 and 4). Then, if possible in Traktor, assign one of the effects knobs to control the send amount. You would also need to use MOTU Cuemix to setup the proper monitoring/mix.

I’m just waking up here but I can look into it for you. My partner has an old S2 kicking around that she uses to audition tracks on the couch or ā€œnot in the studioā€. We’re otherwise a CDJ household.

Traktor s4 mk3 is my controller, thnk u for ur help,i have to check the cuemix ,maybe it will work <3

Unfortunately it doesn’t work, no matter whether I connect in and out channels and use the analog heat, there is no sound or it’s very harsh. Surely it must be possible to integrate the analog heat into a DJ setup? idk

I am doing some pre-production work today. If I have some time over the weekend, I’ll pull out my partner’s S2 and see if I can sort out how it can be done.

Just had a thought:

  1. Are you on Windows or Mac?

  2. Is it possible that the sample rates and buffer sizes need to match for both the S4 and the UL5?

I’m wondering if the issue with the harsh sound has to do with the above. When I use Traktor to mess around, I use my A&H PX:5 which has Traktor integration. So, I can assigne a deck to each mixer channel and take advantage of my send that way. I setup my MF Twister to do all the browsing, cueing, looping etc.

So, I’m on one sound card and I’m not super familiar with the S series controllers. Apart from helping my partner out one the rare occasion she has to use Traktor for backyard parties using someone else’s S controller.

im on win11 ,i had only the sound prob if i setting the ah as interface ,i wanne have the motu mk5 as main out in traktor,i had those settings audio main out channel 3-4 from motu in traktor to the heat audio in ,than a cable from AH main out to motu in channel in 2-3 but i dont have sound. sry my english but i did try so many ways always no sound ,(

Don’t worry about the English. I understand what you’re describing

It sounds like maybe CUEMIX needs some setup. Let me see if I can take a screen snip of how it might need to go.

Just setting it up now. I’ll test it quickly then take some screen snips for you.

Just setting up a delay pedal in a send/return loop so I can test. AH is currently in my live setup. Also, while it seems clear on how to setup the ā€˜Effects’ to use the send/return, it’s less intuitive than I thought. Just sorting that out as well.

thx,do i have change my settings in ah settings menü ?

Looking into this further, I don’t think it’s possible to use an S4 (or any Traktor controller) w/ Traktor and setup a send/return loop. Everything I’m reading is about sending an external device through Traktor’s internal effects.

To do what you’re looking to do, you would need to be using a DJ mixer, either with Traktor integration (or built-in sound card), and external third party controllers. There’s just no way that I can see to configure the FX section to send track audio to the external send/return bus. The UI doesn’t allow this.

traktor s4mk3 have a building in interface soundcard. how u setup a digitakt and ah ? its like the same combo . i dont wanne have the ah as effect it should work like a soundprocesser ,warm sounding tool

but thx ,maybe it will work better if i get someday an xone dj mixer.
wish u a great weekend <3

They are used for live performance. Digitakt runs into AH. No send return bus.
