It took me a while to get the hang of the AH+FX compressor, so I decided to do some measurements to get a better idea of what the parameter values actually translate to.
Thought I’d share them in case they’re useful to any of you. Do note that they’re unlikely to be 100% accurate since it’s fairly difficult to get exact measurements of compressors due to differences in envelopes, etc. – but they should be roughly in the right ballpark.
THR: 0.5 dB / tick (i.e. setting the THR to 126 down from 127 sets the threshold to -0.5 dBFS).
I can’t say for sure since, as far as I know, Elektron hasn’t said it’s the same compressor. It seems like a pretty reasonable assumption though, since the devices run on the same platform and have the same parameters.
I don’t have an OG Digitakt to confirm, but when I have some spare time I’ll see if I can find a reliable way to measure the Digitakt 2’s compressor. If those measurements match the AH+FX’s, then the OG Digitakt is likely the same.
