Analog Four playing 2 tracks at once... help!

I’ve googled and have found several forums where someone is experiencing the same thing, but no answers. hopefully I can get one here. I have a ticket open with Electron, I’m hoping they get back to me soon. My problem is that when I play a track other than track 1, track 1 plays with it. I go to track 2 and hit a key to play a note and that note will play on track 2 AND track 1. Track 3 plays both track 3 and track 1, track 4 same thing. I’ve gone into poly, none of the tracks are checked allocation is set to reset. use try sounds is unchecked as well. I loaded a project and after being asked if I wanted to save the current one, I hit no. It seemed to take care of the problem. As soon as I switched over to Pattern 2 it was back. And I am unable to get it to stop… Any one else have this problem or know how to fix it? I’ve also checked my midi config and each track is using own channel. It’s a used unit, and I’m seriously debating sending it back to Guitar Center at this point. Its unusable in this state.

Is this a neighbour oscillator/track behaviour? Or using multi-map/MIDI loopback? Not familiar with Analog Four but perhaps another aspect to investigate!

Fist, unplug everything except for power and some headphones.

Then create a brand new project.

With track 1 selected, what do you hear when playing on the built-in keyboard?

Now with track 2 selected, what do you hear when playing on the built in keyboard?

Does this happen in a newly created project? Have you checked the manual around p. 28/Poly Configuration - sorry, obviously you have…

Best,
Hans

When I play the keyboard on track 1 you hear track 1. Track 2 you hear track 2 and track 1. Track 3 you hear track 3 and track 1. Track 4 you hear track 4 and track 1

It happens with a new project, when I clear kit. And yes, I have checked the poly config. According to the machine unison and poly should be turned off

Is this using an external keyboard via midi?

I am using the keyboard on the unit. The only cable I have plugged in is a usb to use overbridge. And this happens regardless if I’m using overbridge or in stand alone.

And by “keyboard” you mean the buttons on the A4 because you’ve unplugged all midi, right? And DEFINITELY unplug USB!

In a new blank project, the tracks all have the same sound assigned to them (the default saw). So when playing track 2, it should be hard to say whether track 1 is playing also. Can you describe what sounds different when track 2 plays vs track 1? Volume? Phasey effect? Panning?

Maybe try a test mode reboot just to see if there is anything obvious going on.

Restart the machine and press hold down trig 1.

What version OS is running on the machine?

With the A4, you can only have 1 track selected at a time as the ‘active’ or ‘armed’ track. When playing the keyboard keys, it will only play that track sound that is the activated / armed track.

As another test, you could mute all tracks / turn volume down on all tracks except the active track. See what happens then.

Another test is to ensure your analog four is set up to 1 voice per track.

You mentioned that when you go to Pattern 2, you cannot get rid of the experienced issue. This could be due patterns retaining settings per kit. The kit linked to pattern 2 may have a poly setting. So check your kits for the poly setting and return everything back to 1 mono per track as a test.

When you start a new project, you must load the new project as a clean project, basically a new starting point. This is a good way to clear settings that are causing problems as a troubleshooting exercise.

I am using the keyboard buttons on the A4. When playing track 2-4 you can clearly hear an increase in volume due to track 1 playing along with it. I have also switched osc 1 on track one to a square wave. When track 2-4 is playing a saw wave, you can clearly hear the square wave playing underneath. Doesn’t matter what track 2-4 is being played on the keyboard button on the A4 unit, track 1 will still trigger a sound.

The only other things I can think of trying is to perform a recalibration. This may assist with voice management if something is not quite right with the machine. All else fails you could go for a factory reset. But only after backing up what you want to keep.

Indeed, start there.
Unplug everything but the PSU and headphones.
New project.
Check and report.

Alternatively set every track midi channel to none.

I have started a new project over and over and have said no to saving the current project. I don’t have anything saved in the kits menu. I’m running the new os 1.52. I’ve done a factory reset and reinstalled os 1.52. When you mute tracks you only hear what track you are on. As soon as you unmute it track 1’s sound will play along with whatever button you are pressing in the other three tracks on the A4 keyboard buttons. It’s just very odd that it is happening on tracks 2-4 individually. It would make more sense that it’s a setting if it was o Lu doing this on one of the other tracks. Or if all tracks played at the same time a button was pressed on the keyboard. But it’s not. It’s like track 1 is somehow attached the the other three tracks on their own.

If you have an external din midi keyboard, see if the behavior persists when controlled by that in standalone and it should rule out hardware failure, and then if it does persist, you hopefully won’t have to troubleshoot it as a USB specific problem either.

Just thinking of ways that you can generally start looking in a single direction if there are no errors read on the machine and everything else that’s been said is cleared as well.

How did the test reboot go and did it report anything?

I only have one project saved. I’ve already done a factory reset. I’ll have to wait until I’m home again this evening and look into calibrating the machine

This is useless, it basically retune the oscillators.

Check what I’ve said above. Start with unplugging usb.

Its a good idea to eliminate the onboard keys as a source of an issue by testing it with an external keyboard.

For the OP, the only thing left I can think is to try keyboard tests mentioned. Also check test reboot results.

If nothing obvious comes out of all this maybe best to wait for support to assist. I am running out of ideas unfortunately.
