Hi
Kind of a noob in terms of hardware and midi, so please bare with me…
Could need some help with midi settings of my A4 MKII. I just got it and try to set it up with Studio One 4
I also have a Bass Station II, and I normally use midi channel 1 on the BSII.
However, when checking midi configutation on the A4MKII it it states:
Track 1 - channel 1
Track 2 - channel 2
Track 3 - channel 3
Track 4 - channel 4
Track FX - channel 5
Track CV - channel 6
Perf - Channel 8
Auto channel 9
Should I set BSII to midi channel 7 ( or other free channel) instead? I also use the BS II as a midi keyboard for software vst.
Tanks
What is it you wanna achieve through midi?

Hey,
I follow your YT channel btw:) (Från Sverige, men kanske schysstare att fortsätta frågan på engelska).
I am waitng for Overbridge some day, but for now…,
I want to create patters and use the sequencer on Analog 4, and record them into Studio One.
It would be great to be able to record both midi notes and the audio from A4 MKII. Best/Smartest way to set this up?
As I understand it A4 MKII don’t send midi cc?
I want to use the BS as usual. And some VST like Sylenth and stuff.
Thanks!

Hi,you can change the midi channels on the analog 4 if you want, but yes channel 7 is ok for the bass station,as long as every thing as its own midi channel there will be no problem, cheers
Thanks Stumm42, as I thought then:)

Yes,all you have to think with midi is one midi channel is letting information thru so if two instruments have same midi channel then they will play same notes or midi cc,which in some cases is ideal
Yeah, got that:) Think I will stay with A4 MKII and BSII now. rest VSTs. Or maaabyy a AK MKII in the future:) hehe

None of the Elektron analogs output MIDI from their sequenced tracks
The device mini keys will send midi note data, but the sequencer will not transmit midi notes and likely never will … it’s been a feature request for many years

Avantronic, thanks for your answer.
A bit sad, but it works to record audio as well.
So how would you guys set this up (as Overbridge not are seen yet).
Midi sync from Studio One. and let the sequencer of A4 run and record the audio on separate audio tracks?

Hej!
From what you describe it seems you only need midi clock. So no worries about midi channels. Just decide if you want A4 or Studio One as master.

Thanks CMB!
I think I use Studio One as master.
I guess usb don’t send audio on separate tracks until Overbridge is in place?
No audio over USB until Overbridge. Just find a workflow for traditional audio recording. I think Overbridge will be a while.

yeah, go with that for now.
I did see a video clip of someone with Beta 2.0 for Digitakt (I think it was), seem to work pretty stable. But guess we need to wait for a final release…
