Hi everyone!
I’ve got a little problem with sending midi note to my analog 4 from ableton. It goes like that. I draw a long note on my midi track and press play. What I hear is note starts playing for few milliseconds and than immediately interrupts. As soon as midi clip goes full cycle and starts playing midi clip again from the start I hear a full-length note as it suppose to be in the first place. It also works fine if I manually move midi note just a little to the right from the midi start position. Some sort of sync problem here. Any suggestion?
Please don’t yell if it’s Overbridge + Mac OS Sierra problems. Also can’t seem to find a proper way to send automation.
Did you try to record a clip and use keys on your computer keyboard or master midi keyboard to get that very long note sustained… ? Rather than clic a midi note and expand with the mouse.
Also i always give 1-4 bars empty at the beginning of a track so all have the time to sync well. But i don’t know if you are in clip mode or session mode.
No…But I don’t see how that would help me. I’m in clip mode. What’s the difference between pre-made midi clip that starts at 1.1.1 and recorded live from keyboard? It’ll be the same midi note. And as I mentioned earlier it plays it just fine from the second try or if it’s not on 1.1.1 position. That is just weird, right?
Note offically supported btw…
What’s your buffer size in OB and Ableton ?
My Advise for long section
I remembering to have some problem like that on pad-string with some VST… and to i had fix by zooming and slightly put the midi note not exactly at 1.1.1 but very slightly after by deactivate grid so it’s not audible in any way… anyway all long section i do not go in clip mode and always in session mode + let 1-4 bars at the beginning it’s always work better for me. All that need a time to start well and generally starting at 1.1.1 can be tricky especially when you want to record a performance… i guess i take that because by the past i worked like that with Cubase and Logic audio… and do the same now with Ableton & Reason. Latency can caused some kind of problem like that in a general way.
I’ll take that as an workaround. I tried setting buffer size to 128-256 samples with 4-7 ms latency. Btw. What is the right way to record automation? I assume i need to create new midi track, put overbridge vst, enable configure, record while changing parameters, right? I tried few days ago and I saw all the automation curves at session view, but when i tried to play it it won’t change any parameters.
Don’t forget to set Ableton and Overbridge to the same amount, on my computer 128 in OB and Ableton work just fine.
For automation you have to activate automation :
