Hi. I’m giving up with the Blackbox 1 and don’t want to buy the mk2 because of all the frustration the 1 gave to me.
It could be perfect for my needs even with all the limits and rudimental possibilities in sound shaping.
But all of these years i ve been continuously hsve to do with bugs, reformatting cards, sudden switching off, reading forums etc. Because of all the time i have lost with it I don’t want to have to do with 1010 anymore.
Time to get a new sampler.
I’m used to work with sd card where I have all the samples from mars loaded plus singles cycles and samples I made and it takes a lot of storage that the Digitakt 2 doesn’t have despite his 20gb even if is a machine that really fascinates me and I really would have to try.
The Tonverk could be an alternative that can do a lot more but if I understood well is more limited about manual editing of the samples, that on the BB is a breeze to do. Obviously sacrifing the portability.
Does anyone switched from the Blackbox to Tonverk that can share experiences?

not exactly as small or portable as a blackbox but a magnetic baseus powerbank can help with portability. pretty handy.
I’d read the bug thread regarding tonverk , it’s also has card corruption issues , subtracks going blank , usb audio not working properly … that’s after 1 year of release ( and much longer in private development ) …
if you want a bug free frustration less experience I’d look elsewhere … tonverk could well be good , elektron typically continue to develop their platforms so it depends if you are willing to go with that ‘ride’
In terms of sample editing , there is none ( none on digitakt 1 or 2 either ). You can edit start points / loop points etc , but there’s no easy trimming once the sample has been saved ( some editing is available before it has been saved , ie in a record buffer ) … no normalising / converting to mono etc once it’s on the sd card / + drive … this can be achieved via resampling to some degree .
Digitakt 1 and 2 are stable and perform well at this point … both sample and midi …
and finally - if i turn anything on atm its usually tonverk , it is good for getting experimental sounds, esp with the fx and multisample playback (capturing them on mac from all my vst’s ) … digitakt are more about (imo) using samples with a bit of manipuation (filters, comb filters, lfo’s tricks) … tonverk is more likely to get you more experimental sounds.
Weigh the pros and cons for DT2:
Pros:
Mostly everything you seem to need. Decent sample handling and excellent sequencer integration.
Cons:
You sacrifice 10 minutes reading up and installing software, then wait for maybe 10-40 min of you really fill all those GB with samples. You can’t hot swap SD cards, but the blocker is pretty small.

If memory serves, 10-40 min might be very optimistic for filling the 20Gb on a DT2.
If I’m wrong, somebody please tell me, I would like to be wrong.

Edit: and it doesn’t bug me at all, love the DT2.

That’s time spent waiting to transfer the samples into the DT2. As pointed out I was a bit optimistic for all the 20GB, it would take hours so don’t drag your whole library in at once.

Yes. The current MPC line is mature technology now.
You don’t have to complicate your life by trying to use the entire feature set, just use the parts of the MPC ecosystem that help you make music easily.
Even a used Live 2 does a lot, if you don’t need all the latest features and have limited funds.
Maybe also the small mpc sample could be an alternative to the Blackbox…I have to check the specifications.
Yes, see what you think. That’s a much simpler piece of gear, which could be good or bad. I don’t own one so can’t really offer useful feedback.
