AlphaTheta RMX-Ignite

500 is very beginner friendly and 1000 is more personal. Ignite even more personal.

Does the Ignite need a Pioneer/AlphaTheta device with DJlink to sync properly?

I had gotten a used rmx1000 and it is pretty cool. I got it at such a lower price than they’re going for!

I am not sure I would want this RMX-Ignite. But I am wondering something.

I use rmx1000 as an AUX send return on my roland mx1 mixer. I have tried to have it on the master chain but it seems to ā€œdegradeā€ the signal, but it could have been a while ago and maybe didn’t have my gain staging proper on it… Anyone else experience a signal degrade when running it through master chain???

No. I use it DAWless. It syncs with what’s coming in through audio input, just like 1000 and 500. No MIDI involved. But you can surely sync it even better with a AlphaTheta device via Link cable.

I run my dawless master out through the 500, and my ears can’t notice a difference for what that’s worth. Not sure about the 1000

There is a little led meter that shows the input signal strength, and apparently it’s supposed to be tickling the orange so that’s where I gain stage everything

Thank you for your input. That makes me want to consider using it on the master chain again (before analog heat mk1 + chroma console) I learned gain staging way late, so embarassing. I will have to try to use gain staging on the RMX1k , I could swear I had set it up but the low end was sucked out. Maybe it’s time to rewire soon!!!

Anyways sorry I went a bit divergent in the topic wanted to mention it

EDIT UPDATE!
I just rewired my rmx1000 into my master chain as Roland MX > rmx1000 > Analog Heat mk1 > Chroma Console > Tascam dp24

It sounded like it pulled out all the life from the audio signal! Thankfully I looked into it and I had to turn the line level switch to ā€œmasterā€ and now it’s a full signal and sounds great!!!

Hey! Interested to know how it’s going. Looks like the one I ordered is gonna ship today or tomorrow.

Haven’t had much time to test it, but tomorrow I will sit down and try all functions. :sunglasses:

I’ve played a little more with Ignite and it is a very, very nice effector. On the paper I thought it might be like 500/1000 and it is, but you can do so much more things with dedicated Sample roll and effects, levers, the new FX:s and it sounds really good. I am happy that I got this. Is it worth it if you own and are happy with 500/1000, maybe not, but for me it is a keeper.

My setup is that I have a TX-6 that I have connected a DDJ-FLX4 and a couple of synths like Alphabase and MPC live 3. Then out from TX-6 to Ignite and then from it to Zoom L6 and then the speakers. Works and sounds great. Everything usually syncs and if not you can dial in the tempo manually.

I have to ask the awkward question. Does it sound polished like the SP-16?

Never tried SP-16, but I would assume that Ignite has as good if not even better effects than SP-16. They are all really good and useful. Except Stretch.

Does the drum loop you process through it sound like it went through a Trident / SSL ? Like a hi-fi sheen ?

If no isolator, why isolator shaped?

Don’t really know what you mean, but I will try loops next week.

What do you mean?

Anyone with a video showcasing this with an Elektron box?

If you can record the loop into your daw before ignite then record the ignite into your daw. I can tell you what it does in terms of sonics. Of course. If you can. I’m not forcing you to do it

Not yet this is barely getting in the hands of retailers

I just meant that the 3 knob layout looks like an isolator, or rather, it would have been perfect to include an isolator effect, but it seems they omitted that. And this is probably a bit confusing, as the text under the knob says ā€œIsolate FXā€, but from what I have read, they did not include an actual isolator effect. Maybe they can do that in a firmware update.
