Hey guys,
I’ve been struggling with this for some time now and the issue comes back. No idea why does it work like that… No matter which Kit I load, all pads seem to trigger their own sounds + BD1. So for example, if I want to trig CP1 with a pad I will also hear BD1, same for hihats etc… When I play the pattern back issue is not there anymore. I could not find anything similar on this forum.
Thanks!

Can you elaborate please? Yes, I know what MIDI is but I don’t understand how does this relate to standalone machine and the fact that it decides to play one pad along with all others.
Are you saying this is happening whilst nothing else is plugged in (either usb or midi)
What are your midi channels (including Auto) if you do
Otherwise it may be faulty triggering, normally this has been with a neighbouring pad only

I had my Rytm plugged in through USB to get sound of it through Overbridge. I can disconnect it and plug it in through audio cable and see. I did not have this issue earlier to be honest. Also, sometimes it does not occur. I would hope that this is more of an issue with some sort of settings in the machine itself… But I have no idea. Not sure what do you mean by “what are your midi channels”? Thanks!

i’m assuming you’re using the AR on its own without any other device connected to it (apart from when you connect it via USB) so i would go and check the MIDI settings of your AR first.
hold [Function] and press [Global], from the menu that shows up select MIDI Config; from here have a look at what you’ve got in ‘MIDI Port Config’ and ‘MIDI Channels’
You have NOT described a standalone machine, it can’t be if it’s connected by USB
There are a number of things which can result in this MIDI issue and it all depends on what you have set up at the other end of the USB cable … as you are not too familiar with the MIDI side i’d suggest going to the Menu item in AR which deals with PAD MIDI note destination, switch that from Int + Ext to just Int !
That will stop the issue, but then you have to explore MIDI and your machine settings and contemplate the possibilities
Yeah, I bet he has the RYTM midi output going into his DAW which is triggering midi input on channel 1…happens all the time with Ableton when I am not paying attention.
Sorry to disappear after my reply. Bad form.
So, yeah, it’s most likely what everyone else has said which is that the pad is sending a MIDI signal to the computer over USB which in turn is sending it to the Rytm, thus triggering BD1. It’s not happening while the sequencer is running because the sequencer doesn’t send MIDI.
Hope you’ve worked it out.
