It was a bit hard to suspend disbelief in Romulus, that’s for sure. It’s a great first step to making decent Alien movies again but I hope Alvarez and co take on the feedback and make a more mature entry for the next time. I hear a sequel is happening as well as more Predator movies, due to the success of Prey. Which I thought was okay but had similar reservations about.

Have you watched the “assistant director edition”? Not director because Fincher hated the whole process, and never wanted to work on this film again, but there a longer version available too, which digs deeper on a big subplot and add some dimension to a secondary character. It does not make the movie much better, but still, worth a look.

Yeah I have, it’s my defacto version I prefer. I have fonder memories of younger playing the Megadrive game than the movie itself. I can still watch it, but its my least favourite of the 4. However, it definitely lords over Prometheus and Covenant

My kid and I both thought this was a great return to form. Feels more like 1 and 2. Not as good, with some issues, but those 2 are the only ones I think of when I think of Alien…and this is a good offshoot…hopefully the next one will build on this.
I definitely want to see what happens next especially when they reach the planet controlled by the UPP, something no film ever showed.

Oh man yeah, I wasn’t too happy with the shitty deepfake, fanservice. That stuff deserves to die, but yeah Earth War would have been dope but I still feel there’s better Dark Horse material out there to be mined. I’m fine with moving away from Newt, Hicks and Ripley, because you’re going to encounter the issues Star War has.

Oh sure, I realize that characters are standardized products to sell, it’s the fleshed out world and novel change of perspective and if they pursued that with angle with the same exact cast i would not have complained.

Just watched again Aliens on a flight. It is really so good!
I even watched the “making of” documentary after, which had a bunch of insights and stories about the production.
