The classic Finnish get rich quick scheme: produce dozens of hours of microtonal IDM
His consistency is key, always uses the same tools from what I’ve read. Workflow, arrangement and mixing probably locked down too. Shortest possible distance from jamming an idea to finished recording
Yeah, but sounds not so different from the harmonic series to my ears…
EDIT : not so much in fact. But it’s a quite complex question with microtonality. In a nutshell, I think that after some time you get used to any scale and feel comfortable listening to it.
He’s been banging tunes out at a pretty breakneck speed for 30 odd years now.
He’s no Merzbow when it comes to sheer numbers, but the removal of traditional barriers to distribution have definitely allowed him to bang stuff out quicker than ever these last few years, and the quality is generally still there, so all good.
If you look at a lot of artists that were on Rephlex, there’s a lot of people who release on a pretty hectic schedule.
I have it on good authority that Colundi was, at least in part, some sort of joke.
They are 100% taking the piss.
to call it a “hoax” is 100% needing a piss-taking
It does sound hypnotic, but isn’t that a function of the rough genre of music this fits in to, rather than the particular frequencies being used.
i.e. this music would sound probably hypnotic in c major scale, no woo-woo required
edit: I’m not saying it’s bad music (it’s nice!) just about the particular aspect of frequencies used
The key is that he doesn’t have an elektronauts account.
I just into his stuff recently and haven’t listened to it all, but for the amount of output the consistency and quality control is top notch, in my opinion. Particularly fond of the GRACE series.
I would recommend CYCLES 0 (2025 release) if someone wants a good intro to his work and scope of sound, that was the one that reeled me in.
I think it’s hypnotic because unlike a c major there is no root note, no harmonic center.
Heard the man play live once, hands down the best piece of electronic music I’ve heard on a dancefloor, I don’t think I’ve experienced anything like it, at the end most of the crowd had stop dancing and was standing there mesmerized. I was part of the festival crew so I had a chat with the booker about him, he seems to be a genuine nice and weird guy. Not too sure of how much of his belief in colundi is real and how much he is taking the piss at journalists, probably a bit of both. Any way, it seems like a creative process that suits him!
This is really nice, any context would be much appreciated !
a near infinite colundi seed generator for baths, dental hygienists and late night cafes.
share some nice seeds if you find any.

I have so much old Rephlex stuff just decaying away in the loft, I really should look at storing it better
what started as a Saturday morning idea has (for now) finished with output capacity at 50% total bollocks, 50% transcendental mind bend.
Colundi Waftundi is a living sound experience built from three engines, unfolding 55,340,232,221,128,654,848 possible Waftundis to explore.
Four evolving parts can be swapped in real time.
The system is tuned by a 64-slot microtonal grid with import/export to use your own tuning designations.
MIDI support for clock sync in and tuned notes out.
Every seed is deterministic and shareable.
What is this for? i don’t know… : sample it? put it on whilst you’re polishing your spoon collection? play it as an ambient backdrop at your workplace until someone notices?
Waftundium perfectum quaerimus, sed iter ipsum sonat.
Hi, apparently I am not able to find GRACE 0. Were you referring to 10 ? Or actually 0 ??
Thanks
