Album - At Rest - grab a free copy if you like

I made my album free on bandcamp, its a gettinga physical re-release later so go get your free digital copy… if you’re interested that is.

neat! it’s nicely balanced mix-wise and music wise I really like the 2nd half and prefer it to the first - had a much more organic feel to it/ but that might be just me. great work!

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment.
I think you’re right. The second half was easier going writing wise.

i really like the overall feel to it -hope I brought that across
again, the mix is really neat and things have a lot of space … my stuff usually turns into a big pile of mush and i keep throwing stuff out again…
care to share bits of your mixing/mastering process? many thanks!

To be honest there isn’t any mastering on it at all. I didn’t have the confidence to do it myself and couldn’t afford to pay for it.
Also quite a few of the songs, such as clocker or the dream and marshall’s arts were all written in a day.
I had a project with a few friends where we wrote one song a day for a month. Those were some of the better ones so I polished them up a little and used them.
I try not to use too much EQ or compression, instead I tend to look for sounds that fit the gap in the sound so that I don’t need squash them into the mix. I then just build the parts around that.
It’s mostly done in ableton. I used the fab filter EQ quite a lot. I also mixed a lot with headphones (and occasionally referenced on my monitors). I usually play a mix on my speakers, then through my TV and finally one more time in my car before I commit to the mix though. Not sure how successful that system is but I’m hoping my mixes translate. At least I aim for them to.
Gear wise synths are reaktor , MDUW, my juno 106, mopho or shruthi. I don’t think I used my blopheld on anything before I sold it. Most of the beats were made on maschine mikro.

It’s the first real feedback I’ve had. I’m sure many can find problems with my mix but I am glad you enjoyed it.

kewl - thanks for the insight!

Thanks for listening. Genuinely appreciated.
