Akai S2000

pseen didn’t make the video, but you can get them on eBay (for a big markup) or from AliExpress.

Thank you! Great post.

To everyone saying there’s VST’s or other samplers that are easier to use, yes I know and I have an Octatrack. I want an older Akai sampler for the time stretch and bitcrush only, to resample metal percussion and other sounds and then put into my Octatrack.

My 1st sampler ! I sold my les paul custom to afford it. It was probably around 1997.
Got to figure it out all by myself because manual was japanese only and internet was a pretty much a phantasm back then.

Got pretty much all of the fancy stuff, os on scsi, multi out etc…The menus were a pain, but I had nothing else at this time…

Today this thing worth pretty much nothing and somewhat deserves it !

this is the way. for old fun mojo that’s worth the effort… ensoniq/emu/kurzweil are the way to go. ensoniq stuff has tons of mojo and vibe. those effects!

This is what I would say too… if you’re in the UK, send it to Paul at circuitbenders.co.uk.

You’ll end up with a unique piece that makes sounds you can’t get any other way!

I personally wouldn’t get an S2000, it’s the worst of the bunc IMHO The cream of the crop is the S1100, S1000, and the early ones prior to that are the ones to look at if you’re wanting dirt - S612, 900 and S950 etc, bearing in mind they’re extremely limited. The second run also worth looking at are the non XL versions ,- S2800, S3000, S3200. my two cents.

Yeah, I bought a S2000 10+ years ago, I was so excited I could finally afford a rackmount sampler for cheap, I used it for 2 hours then and sold it. Same with the ESI 32. OMG I got it for so cheap… used it for 4 hours… I just can’t be bothered to use that stuff, even for $100 it became a burden.
