AKAI Force

“Seems” is the key word here. We know they made gen2 versions of 2 gen1 MPCs. We don’t if that’s the case with the Force. If Akai keeps the release of of gen1 then the Force is next. That whole “the Force is on hold & we’ll wait & see what we’re going to do based on demand” message from Akai, could mean anything.
I think the If they did make a F2 in 2027, it would be better received than the F1 back in 2019, when no MPC had clips & most of the other Force features. This why I was saying years ago about them using MPC3 on gen1 to test the demand for new Force like device & I think it’s going well, but the PC software will really let us know. If I had to use the software - the Force would be better in so many ways, but F2 with an added touchstrip would amazing!

It would be interesting to see an internal roadmap. Force’s firmware has been in beta for forever, they keep adding features, fixing bugs, yet they stopped selling them long ago. I recall you mentioning that the Force was a test for Akai. Could be.

Re: MPCe Layer Quadrants in Force 3.7’s Track Edit > Tune/Mix tab: That make’s sense. But I see no use for that in the Force. Also noticed under Known Issues - MPCe graphic is visible in Track Edit > Tune/Mix tab for keygroups. Could be why it’s still in beta.

fair point… I guess it was me expressing hopium

9 years ago, that’s amazing. My live one is still going strong, battery still good. Hopefully a new mpc is in my future.

I looking for something else, but found my old Force/MPC Wish List & noticed that today make it 2 years old. Akai added lot since then!

On OS version 3.7 when zooming in on a sample I am unable to pan/move left or right. The sample is locked at the zoom position.

The MockbaMod crew got mouse support working. This isn’t my thing, but check it out if you want that:

The OS is same as Akai’s, but with the added SSH & Mouse support.

I appreciate Akai for giving updates to Force as this machine is quite possible a test ground for some design features. IMO having 64 pads is more productive than MPCe Pads. I’m glad MPC users now have virtually more than 16 pads at once without a need of switching banks.

I feel the same way. Once they get the desktop going with clips, the Force will make even more sense & if the demand it or something like it will increase. As is, the Force makes the current gen2 MPC looks like a bad compromise where the MPC users benefits the most. Now that both platforms are finally running the same OS make this the best time drop a gen2 version? The MPC3.0 traines MPC users on the Force OS & most are loving it. This wasn’t the case in 2019.

only if “FORCE 2” have 32gb of ram :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: and full native instruments of plugin setup / sequencer like the oxi one or hapax/ 48khz audio combine with the elektron line.

Hi! I’ve still got 3.6 and using Force not for a long time. Please could you tell me how I can enable/disable the option to record the states of any button or knob as automation? I don’t understand how it’s happened, but now when I click play and perform on Force in launch mode, every change is immediately recorded as an automation. How can i disable it?
(3 days to the first live. Great. Kinda nervous, sorry)

Oh, I just found out (reading the manual) how to turn it off.
Automation: read/write.
Thank you!
(Sorry, i still nervous) =)

Oh, great. I’ve found the solution. This setting is in a very obscure place. In the clip mode, i clicked on the line and selected “color” option.

Was any of you guy able to download the new 3.7.1 update that was released earlier today? It says if for all the MPCs & the Force but I can’t get it. It’s mainly just bug fixes, but how doesn’t love a less buggy machine?

Yeah, I downloaded it yesterday, directly on the Force.

The new 3.7.1 firmware files and Release Notes PDF were at this link yesterday, but it looks like Akai removed them later. Yesterday, I copied the PDF link and posted it in the MPC thread on this forum. Weird.

Edit: Checked Firefox’s history - here’s the link to USB 3.7.1 updater file. The links for Mac and PC 3.7.1 updaters are dead.

Thanks. The USB link downloads but the file doesn’t work. Some was having trouble with it on their MPC & downgraded, so maybe they are working on it & will fix it with 3.7.2.

I’ve changed my mind - I am convinced there will indeed be a Force 2 at some point. It’ll have the same motherboard and CPU as the new MPC Live 3 and XL. Probably the same RAM as the Live 3. Mark my words - it’ll happen. And we’ll all be happy. Just as long as it doesn’t have that stupid soft plastic coating on it anymore LOL!

Wow! You must’ve seen something major to do a 180. What made you change your mind?

I also hope they don’t have that nasty skin, tho mines isn’t sticky, but I still don’t like it.
I think they should make the pads closer to help do the MPCe/MPE stuff but still be used a separate 8x8 pads/clips & ofc, give it a tilt screen & don’t get rid of the crossfader. I still thing the Force is still better designed to run 3.0 the L2 & XL, It just needs that g2 power boost.
