AKAI Force

My mistake! Looks like the new MPC 3 Arranger is similar to what’s already available on the Force!

Ok, but still, what did you mean by full song arranger?

When I had a Force a long time ago, I only ever used it in Clip Mode and for some reason thought it’s Arranger/Song Mode was just Clip Mode with inputs to say which Scenes to move to next in order to build the song.

Then after seeing the MPC 3 videos, I was impressed with its new Arranger Mode and wished the Force had that :man_facepalming:

But then seeing your comment I questioned myself and looked back at a YouTube video - low and behold it’s the same mode

OK I get you now. It would be nice if there were more than 1 arranger seqs & if we had a “Convert Arranger Tracks to Clips” feature so we can then quickly clear what’s in the arranger & reuse it.

MPC 3 vs Force??? It’s getting too bloody hard to think straight - maybe I should sell the lot and get a Hapax :upside_down_face:

At least wait for the new Force update. Akai say will be released. IDK when, but maybe when the official MPC3 OS is ready or shortly afterwards. Thing are heating up. I hope Akai read that that big ass Force wish-list: AKAI Force - #2749 by Poetic-Noise

I’ll bet anyone any amount of money here that Force will get some sweet updates that are Force-specific, like Clip follow actions (which is already available in the hacking community). But yeah, you probably won’t see that until MPC 3 releases to the public officially out of beta, and maybe a maintenance update or three after that. So don’t expect Force to get an OS update before the end of 2024. Hopefully by the beginning of 2025, though.

That’s not much of a bet. Akai already mentioned the Force will get a new update. A more higher stakes bet is, will the new update offer us more cool features than the hacked OS?

PS, And will it fix that damn MIDI note off bug?

I’m not a betting man & I don’t have any inside Akai info like you seem to have, so gonna sit this one out & just hope that Akai can out do the MockbaMod hack… they even gave the Force tempo changes…
Let’s go Akai! & hackers don’t stop hacking!

Hi guys!
For the ones that experienced both the Mpc X and Force, how would you compare the workflows?
I know in Force seems more friendly with clips -to sequences, but I may be wrong and be easier to build up songs in Mpc. How are they different or better?
Thanks!

Incoming stupid question…

Seeing as the AKAI Force does MIDI Out, there’s no reason why it couldn’t be used as a MIDI controller. And googling this, I guess I was right.

Now, Serato DJ and other DJ mixing apps can talk MIDI, so my question is:

Could you use the AKAI Force as a DJ Controller for Serato DJ?

What I was hoping to do is use 2 tracks on the Akai Force to be Left and Right, then map the knobs for each track to be various things like filter, tempo, jog dial etc, but also then map the cross fader as Serato’s audio mixer.

I can’t find a single person who’s done this on youtube so I’m starting to wonder if it’s even possible. Surely it is???

Force makes a great MIDI Controller.

Just because no one’s made a a video doesn’t mean it can’t be done. MIDI has been around since the 80’s so it’s relatively simple.

1 Force MIDI track can control 128 parameters on a specific MIDI Channel and sent someplace outside of the box.

Figure out the CC’s that you need controlled, and setup a MIDI Track to send those - you can even rename the controls and save the track so you can then load up “My Serato Control” whenever you want to.

If you need to send Off / On or toggles, then use Macros.

That’s basically what I did on this video I posted months ago: AKAI Force - #2804 by Poetic-Noise

i use the akai force exclusively - for now - as a controller for Push 3 standalone. And its not only the biggest but the best i could find.

Crackin’ Wise as usual eh?
I guess I beat yah to the punch.

Why do you think the ole internet algorithm didn’t connect your video with @alfiedotwtf? Maybe because he was looking for Sersto specifically?

Hey, I just got back from vending out during Harlem day. It didn’t rain till the very end. It was supposed to be a washout, but I asks the clouds to chill. :money_mouth_face:

I saw your first post, but for 2nd I was just giving a real-life example of using the Force macros to control another device.

Here’s a tip some may or not know: If you the pads set to Edit All while using MIDI Learn it will assign those parameters for all 128 pads. The bad thing is that if you want to delete them you’ll have to delete each, one by one.

Who is considering changing from Force to MPC now that MPC3.0 has a track-based workflow? Or are you waiting for Force mk2?

I already bought an MPC, but have no intention to part with my Force. I do t believe InMusic will invest in a second Force. If they did, I’d get it and still keep the OG.

That’s a strong conviction. I’m considering the MPC but have doubts since I love the directness of the Force and its clip based approach. Switching tracks and sequences on MPC seem less direct. MPC for me would bring addtional outs and a smaller footprint (depth).

I’m not waiting for Force MK2; I’m waiting for the next Force OS update for my current Force that will add plugins support for all of the plugins that have come out since it was last updated, as well as Clip follow and a bunch of other planned improvements (including the new Arranger and Sequencer improvements). But in the meantime, I already have an MPC, so…

Looking forward to the Force update.

Any insiders here want to spill the beans?

Curious what Akai will add, fix, etc.
