AKAI Force

Right now, no - you cannot automatically import MPC projects into Force, but it’s pretty high on the feature request list. So there’s that.

did anyone hear of any further Force FW developments/updates/plans?

anyone part of a beta group that can say at least stuff is in development perhaps?

Anyone in the beta is under NDA, so no one will ever post publicly about stuff going on in their beta forum. That said, stuff is always in development. No reason to think that they just stopped for the hell of it when Force is still in production and being sold in stores.

I’m very disappointed with the Force. Integration is poor. I have imported some projects yesterday and Force loads some of them, but when they played it freezes so that I have to turn the power off and restart it.

Yeah I guess that wasn’t a realistic ask tho I have heard others in beta groups before give hope good things are coming without revealing the specific content

Just wishing for some further improvements, drum track explode export to a DAW for one

What’s your number one improvement u wish the Force had?

Not my #1, but I wish for more QOL things like being able to mute/solo & reorder the Drum FX’s & maybe even save DFx Presets. Also, being able copy/paste pads in different tracks. Simple stuff.

Tempo per scene (or lack of) has been the biggest barrier for me.

All LFOs should be syncable to BPM, and there should be an option for temporary automation / p-locks. I think I’d stop moaning altogether if I had those. An extra LFO at the program / kit level would be nice, but I’m happy to use macros for that - just give me proper sync.

I hear you. They can’t please everyone, for sure. Me - I love my Force and it’s a permanent part of my studio (the center, in fact).

I have imported some projects yesterday and Force loads some of them, but when they played it freezes so that I have to turn the power off and restart it.

Oof - that sucks. Maybe reach out to support and see if they can offer assistance?

I really want some sort of follow feature for Clip rows, and tempo automation or even tempo change per-Clip. Explode drum programs is probably the next one I want most. Sort of silly we still don’t have that in 2023.

all of the above and manipulation of warp markers via the knobs would be my most requested feature, crossfader on the left side on a new model with a more streamlined form factor

In order of desire:

  1. Stable midi clock slave behaviour
  2. External instrument delay compensation
  3. Auto scroll / next page on the sequencer on the pad grid
  4. Step sequencer (the one on the touchscreen) showing more than 16 steps, with p-lockable steps and more sequencer functions (rotate/set start & end step, euclidian generator etc)
  5. BPM sync’d LFOs
  6. Follow actions & tempo changes (although Mockba mod will get you this it’s a little clunky)
  7. Program change for internal devices
  8. A 2nd bank of 16 ‘Track’ macros for the knobs!!

I am trying to make the Force the centre of my hardware setup and its so close to meeting my expectations.

I use it for sequencing and mangling my LXR, Volca Drum, and a handful of synths. But mostly drums. I build a load of patterns and have a nice master with macros for my hardware then play it all with a mixture of live and sequenced content and multitrack it all into cubase which cannot slave to external midi clock hence my desire for Force to be a good slave!

I can totally work with it as it is, but a few more tweaks and it could be sooo much better!

Well I was angry at that moment that Force can’t open my old MPC projects but I made nice music already nd I think that I just had to finish my MPC projects on MPC and that’s what makes the problem. I should’ve finish songs instead of moving them from one groovebox to another. Even if I manage to move those projects successfully - it ewill not help me finish those songs I’m sure. So instead of blaming Force I need to blame myself…

You should be able to load the MPC programs as individual files into the Force, then just record the MPC MIDI sequence data into clips. To speed up this tedious process, first make the MPC the master clock & the Force the slave, then increase the BPM on the MPC so the seq will play & record really fast onto the Force. This is an advantage of dealing with MIDI data vs. audio.

You may want to create a default project template that has tracks on the Force set up with the macro settings you like so all the new MPC tracks will be able to use that from the get.

You can also do this afterward by loading up a track from a Force project that has these macro settings, then just rename the trk & copy the clips to this track. Track Reordering helps a lot with this not being a total pain in the ass. I wish we could copy/paste text for faster file naming.

Genius! Great idea applicable in many situations!

I saw someone do that & said the something. Felt dumb for not thinking of that simple trick sooner, once you know you grow & can offer your “genius” to others.

That’s… actually a simple but genius method - nice!!!

That’s what I said!

I want to make custom skin and print it out in the nearest place that creates street advertising things. Does anyone have a drawing of the Force’s faceplate? Can I make it myself by taking a picture of it and upscaling it and drawing over it in something like Corel Draw? What could be a workflow in this case?

I found picture of Force in it’s UserGuide but it is PDF .

Hi guys, I sold my Force around 2 years ago and have not been making any where near the same or quality of music since :(. I sold it as I wanted to multitrack my sounds and sequences into ableton so I could process the individual tracks in there. Have had good success with this with other drum machines but miss the Force and it’s workflow. So backstory aside, my question is: is there a way to send my audio tracks individually into my computer via I guess USB or am I limited to recording main out with stereo in and either doing overdubs or just dealing with it. Cheers.
