Airpods pro 2/Blutooth Audio latency music making

Hey,

is anyone using Airpods pro 2s with their Ipads or any other Blutooth earpods and can speak about latency and music apps?
I´ve read that latency is still to high for music making. would be pretty sad. Would have bought a pair for that purpose.

Yeah, the latency is way too high for any kind of real-time recording. If you’re just programming things in it can be serviceable, but all the visual feedback from your DAW or apps on iOS will not match what you’re hearing, especially in regards to playheads and stuff like that. It can make doing piano roll stuff really confusing because you can’t tell exactly where the timing was off, etc.

RF wireless has significantly lower latency, but is often really variable. There are some companies like AIAIAI that are trying to do “producer” headphones that have RF wireless capability, it might be worth looking into some of those if you really have to have wireless.

Hopefully someday we’ll be able to have wireless earbuds like airpods that are usable for music production. It’d be amazing to have that instantaneous connection so that you could just pop in and do some work for a few min if you have an idea. But sadly not possible today

But I am a little bit confused as well aren‘t there Blutooth headsets for PS5 and XSX? They should have the same problems with latencys playing shooters and stuff but somehow it seems to wirk there

I just recently tried that myself (Sennheiser Momentum 4 + Sennheiser BT T100) and for me its fine when ‘playing’ sequencer, and I cant honestly notice any delay on movies, etc, but its completely unusable for playing keys, so I suppose anything really live. the latency is suddenly very clear, annoying, and I couldnt even properly play stuff I know well, as the disconnect between pressing the key and the sound was quite confusing…

Seems that different earbuds have very different latency. None of them seems fast enough thou. But Airports Pro 2 seem to be in the 150ms ballpark.
