AH+FX prices

i looked at my ah+fx purchase back in 2023, and couldn’t believe how much i paid compared to what they go for now.

i guess there is something to buying when something is initially released as costs don’t always go down. :see_no_evil:

What world events could ever be driving this sudden increase in the price of electronic goods?

i checked thomann, and it’s a different story.

Yes, but that’s above the de minimis threshold of $800 so if a US buyer purchases from Thomann they’ll be paying an import fee on top of that.

After shipping and import duty a US buyer would pretty much pay the same amount even though it’s “cheaper”. Maybe even more to buy from Thomann after Aug 1 if Trump’s latest tariff threat of 30% on European goods goes into effect.

I assume it won’t matter where you buy it from if you are in USA … it’ll be going up 30% as it’s made in eu ?
Though I think it’s added to trade price not necessarily the retail price .

Or itll bexome too expensive and no one in USA will buy them anymore

It may be worth merging this with any other tarrif thread …

1,1k€ at Thomann, that’s crazy

this isn’t always the case, but yes, it is more likely you’ll pay import fees.

i purchased a waldorf m not too long ago from Germany as well as a doepfer LMK2+ from thomann and didn’t pay additional fees.

Initially, the Trump plan was only to kill de minimis from China, but de minimis will be phased out globally in 2027 under the new bill just signed. Frankly, I support killing de minimis because it’s extremely environmentally unfriendly to drop-ship millions of individual packages around the world. It’s truly messed up that one can buy a shower curtain on Amazon and have it arrive from China in under a week for any price less than $100. Of course, Trump doesn’t care about the environment, but “stopped clocks, etc etc.”

You can’t discount the idea that retailers are just raising prices because they are facing costs on all kinds of things and getting it back via higher consumer prices is about the only option they have.

From my observation, the AH+FX resale price takes a larger hit than the DTII / DNII resale price.

Not sure that it means anything, or that it’s a “bad investment” per say, but it does not really speak to the value proposition for purchasing one new.

I would also say that they haven’t done much to add value to the machine since it’s “release”, and unless I’ve missed something, there haven’t been any significant leaps in development or device capability.

Seems very expensive when you look at it that way. Even more so now than how prior incarnations of AH looked to me 5 or 6 years ago.

Jesus this is a fairly new change as well. Just looked up the price comparison since I bought one in March and it’s nearly £200 more expensive from UK retailers
