Fair enough…
still a bit confused / not used fase with the external controll-part of the machinedrum.

Any news on production progress/price and other details?

Hej! We are from the south of Berlin - maybe you heard about the delay in buliding a new airport here. We follow that tradition, everything is a bit slower as planned …
Serious: We hope to get the parts for the case of the prototype within the next days (this week). Then we can finally show it in a video … hopefully on the weekend.
Also we came across some issues which we have to solve (for the first series) - no real technical matters, but in relation to the case/construction … we are optimistic and still ambitious to make something good.
brgds,
Bruce

I hear you man! I am from Croatia, and this whole countrey has pretty high latency :).

Well, it is pretty serious peace of gear and I bet you will need some test period.
I can not wait to see it in action. Oktakontrol reminds me on old Kenton Freak controler wich I searched for, but it is discontinued for a long time.

Please, just let us know ASAP when price will be calculated.

all best

Ivan

A little question from someone who doesn’t own an OT yet:

Do the volume faders on the Oktakontrol work pre or post FX? Ie, if I have something like a delay on a track and turn the volume all the way down on the Oktakontrol, does the delay continue playing for a little while, or does it just stop abrubtly?

I depends on where the faders are “routed to”. Initially they control Track-Level (midi cc #7) which is post fx. Honestly we never thought about that yet, but its really a good reason to put the faders initially on Amp-Volume (midi cc #25) which is pre fx (what is in many cases better, because it is more “natural”).
brgds & thanx for your input,
Bruce

loving the new pics! also the pre-fx fader is a killer idea!

also, even with the side ports, would it be possible to include rack mount screw holes in the same location as the OT, so that this might be racked up somehow?

Yes, it is possible to put the Oktakontrol into a rack. Mount holes which are used to fix the side panels can also be used as mount holes for rack ears. There is no problem with the side ports regarding putting it into a rack, because the final width (340mm / same as Octatrack) lefts enough spaces for plugs and cables.

Bruce

Just wanted to check the status on this, have the panels arrived?

@nightfade: Sorry we were not here for some time (so we didn’t see your question).

Of course we received the panels in the meantime, also the first Oktakontrols are already sold, shipped and reached their new lords.

We finally decided to switch from the wooden front/backpanels to a full metal case, because manufacturing with wood was to inaccurate and time-consuming to handle for us. Maybe in the future we will make a special edition with wood, but for now we stay with metal.

On your website it states “all sockets at side panel & user-configurable arrangement of sockets”. I assume this is referring to the Aux MIDI port but is it possible to order two Oktacontrols with one having the ports face the right side of the unit and the other with the ports facing the left?

Yes, it is exactly as your request. “User-configurable arrangement” means, you can have the sockets at the left or right side. This can very simple achieved by the customer himself - one just needs to unscrew the top-plate, turn it 180° and attach it (the Oktakontrol is symetrical and there are two PCBs in it, one for the faders, buttons, LED and one with the sockets) - or we could deliver it this way if noted in the order.

Nice! That’s very good to know.

How much does one of these run USD?

Approximately 317USD + 55USD shipment + VAT (I don’t know how much VAT in US exactly).
