Yes, it is possible to put the Oktakontrol into a rack. Mount holes which are used to fix the side panels can also be used as mount holes for rack ears. There is no problem with the side ports regarding putting it into a rack, because the final width (340mm / same as Octatrack) lefts enough spaces for plugs and cables.

@nightfade: Sorry we were not here for some time (so we didn’t see your question).

Of course we received the panels in the meantime, also the first Oktakontrols are already sold, shipped and reached their new lords.

We finally decided to switch from the wooden front/backpanels to a full metal case, because manufacturing with wood was to inaccurate and time-consuming to handle for us. Maybe in the future we will make a special edition with wood, but for now we stay with metal.

On your website it states “all sockets at side panel & user-configurable arrangement of sockets”. I assume this is referring to the Aux MIDI port but is it possible to order two Oktacontrols with one having the ports face the right side of the unit and the other with the ports facing the left?

Yes, it is exactly as your request. “User-configurable arrangement” means, you can have the sockets at the left or right side. This can very simple achieved by the customer himself - one just needs to unscrew the top-plate, turn it 180° and attach it (the Oktakontrol is symetrical and there are two PCBs in it, one for the faders, buttons, LED and one with the sockets) - or we could deliver it this way if noted in the order.

This Oktatel has the best berliner look possible. These fast screw are great. Is there any improvements in the owen for a Oktatel V2 ? Like someone ever answer me for such a question ?

Sorry Marcel , I meant the Oktakontrol , Oktatel is perfect as it is. Will you update the Oktakontrol regarding features suggestions ? For example 1 fader / 1 scene ? And for configuration, as i’m not an aduino experienced at all, will it be a little piece of user-friendly software, or i won’t need it ?
I’m very tempted !

Yes, we are still working on a firmware update and also on a software which will make editing the OK assignments a lot easier. I don’t want to come around with excuses why this takes so long, but I promise something will be there in december!

What was the suggestion “1 fader / 1 scene” again? Could you please further explain? (I don’t remember that)

it’s a thing of beauty to be able to control amp levels of each track with out looking at the screen irregardless of what track screen the OT is currently displaying.

Big game changer for me & the clear difference between this product and the countless other assignable midi controllers:

Same materials as the OT, very solid alps faders and overall build quality is the best I’ve seen in this size of midi controller. Sits at the same exact height/width of the OT so your wrists can sit comfortably on the edges
Plug it in and it works, you can also switch the faders to control pitch with a few button presses which is very handy for sampling. (code can be altered via arduino for more advanced stuff)
Idiot proof! The choice to not make a button, fader, and encoder for every function and to limit to the important stuff (amp level, mutes, solo etc) makes it easy to learn and hard to mess up during live sessions/performances.
Firmware updates! AGKW guys are very passionate about their craft so by purchasing you support them and allow them to improve the product further. (the oktakontrol can be used as a midi sequencer, and they’re planning to make a software editor for the functions if you don’t fancy coding)

I also plug in my kenton usb-midi host into the midi in of the oktakontrol to use my OP-1 keyboard to play the A4 and send start/stop to the OT and it works as it should.

Very happy after owning it for many months, playing with it live, and using it to play the faders during recording.

I want another one Probably will assign it to the 8 midi tracks on the OT and control velocity with the faders instead
