Hello.

So my set up is DT(master) into DN and I’ve been having a lot of fun with the after touch/pitch bend/mod wheel modulation, controlling it from the midi channels of the DT. This not only lets me focus more on the DT but gives me macros in a since for the DN (which it should already have but that’s another post). My issue is I have them both to change patterns together, and sometimes when they change patterns the modulation will freeze up. I’m pretty sure it’s the DN freezing because the actually after touch encoder display will still turn on the DT but the meter monitors the input data on the DN will freeze. What’s weird is if I send it a little bit of data from the pitch bend encoder it will unfreeze. I’m just curious if this is normal behavior, a bug, or just weird and I just have to live with it.

Can’t say 100% but I was chatting with @jose_no about something similar and his DN was freezing when he threw too many cc’s at it under certain measurable circumstances, thus we concluded that it was a bug. I can look for the conversation in the bugs thread if you want, but I don’t think it’s specific cc you’re using, I think it’s amount and the conditions under which they’re being received.

Just to say, I don’t think you’re alone in this. And FWIW mine has frozen in a similar way, but it’s usually some condition that had to do with a combination of LFO and the ARP, can’t say exactly what because I didn’t dwell on it too long, just that freezing is (unfortunately) not totally uncommon. It manifested as a weird a-tonal pattern hold/repeat that locked up the machine and didn’t sound like what I was actually playing at the time.

That’s super weird. And to be specific it’s just my modulation that is freezing. My sequence and patch are unaffected.

That’s really strange, I can’t say it’s the same then. You’re saying it holds at the point in the modulation curve where it was engaged at that moment? or are you saying it just stops working / unresponsive.

It holds at the point of modulation

Are you modulating LFO? is it just aftertouch? And re-reading the first post, just to clarify, is it strictly the visual feedback on the DN freezing? or is it the actual modulation

I am not using a Midi LFO (yet) and sometimes I use the modulation to control the LFO depth but really I’m using the AT pot on my DT to control multiple parameters on my DN. Works just fine most of the time it’s just sometimes when I switch patterns the modulation gets stuck.

Both visual feedback and actual modulation.

that sounds similar to what jose no was talking about, hopefully he has a second later to check in on this. I’d probably report it as a bug though, both in the thread and make a ticket. The more people who report as impacted, the more likely they are to fix it.

Also this is a tip I learned from @DaveMech so he might have some insight…

Cant find the email rn but i think elektron support said its a known bug, altho tbh after all the issues i was having trying to modulate it externally through midi/overbridge, i decided to only use midi for sync, I am having some fun using the cv ins tho, so id recommend that, i have the a4 fming the lfo on a little moog werkstatt and then from there controlling a couple. Of parameters on the digitone, great fun

So I discovered last night that if it is frozen then “locking” and then “unlocking” the AT encoder on the DT normally unfreezes it. I say normally because there was one time when absolutely nothing was working which is really frustrating. But hey, take what I can get I guess.

Yeah unfortunately I just have a DN and not a DK so my options are limited.

Ah i see, wasn’t sure if the non keys had the cv i/o
