Advancing Patterns without Multi Map

So I’m aware that you can assign notes to patterns in multimap and trigger them that way, but otherwise is there a clever way to have an external midi controller ( notes or cc ) to just advance or go back from current pattern. Just like a “next” and “previous” function. I’m doing a one man show thing, playing multiple instruments and live looping, and need to use a foot controlled midi pedal ideally to move from one pattern to another. I can’t use the song mode and automate it because I don’t know how long I need to stay on each pattern before I start, it’s completely improvised. If you have any ideas let me know, thanks !

If your external MIDI controller has some way of incrementing (transposing by 1) the MIDI note value it sends each time you press a control, you could use a PATTERN INC setting of 1 while using the AF Multi Map PAT.PLAY function.

But I guess there aren’t many off-the-shelf controllers that are so programmable. What gear do you have available?

I was planning on using a mcmillan 12 step. I don’t think that will work. Thanks for the tip though
