Adding extra encoders/pots to the AK?

Hi there,

I’m considering buying an Analog Keys for my impro sessions - the sequencer is perfect for this!

However, I’m a bit worried about the lack of encoders/knobs. Has anyone tried adding extra encoders via MIDI? And does this work?

I was thinking about something like the Faderfox SC4 or PC4

Also, does anyone know if the AK kan receive MIDI from endless encoders, like the SC4?

Cheers,
Nikolaj

Of course it responds to MIDI, not sure about endless increment messages, depends on the hardware, but you’ll get the best resolution if you get a controller which can send nrpn 14bit messages, regular 7bit might be all you need, but e.g the Lemur app would allow you to configure both to whatever config you wanted, plus you can exploit the USB port and leave those din plugs for clock etc

So the USB port can be assigned to a remote fader/ipad control, at the same time as the midi ports are spitting out midi notes etc??

makes sense with overbridge coming…
if so, this is very good news!

USB I/Oand DIN ports are able to work concurrently, but don’t expect USB in to appear at DIN thru, been that way since day 1

You can’t hook up an USB controller to the box directly because it’s not a USB host.

The camera connection Kit does the business just fine, plus you could use a raspberry pi as a host ‘hub’ for no money or footprint, so you still have DIN free with minimal gear
