How do I add effects to the input channels and once I begin sampling will the effects be recorded?

If you only use the DIR mode of input from the A/B and C/D inputs then you will not have any effects on their signals.

Therefore, you need to put a Thru machine on one of the OT’s tracks in order to add effects. Remember to put a trig on this track. See page A-1 of the manual.

In order to sample the effected input signals, you should sample the output of the track that has the Thru machine: set SRC3 in the Recording Setup 1 Menu to the track number that has the Thru machine. But set the INAB and INCD settings on that menu to ‘-’ to avoid adding the dry signals from the two input pairs. See pages 50-52 of the manual.

maybe I’m not understanding the question are you talking about external effects?

otherwise, inputs can be set up on channels (i.e. thru machine) and you just use the OT effects like any other track

that’s pretty much how my OT runs most of the time, all 4 inputs are used in thru machines, all my other gear is mixed (with effects outside the OT)…I run into the OT to sample/mangle stuff and record OT out
