It’s been sitting in my studio space for years and does get used now and then but I wonder if I could just make do with Omnisphere and Serum which I have and sample them into the Octa. Especially now that Omnisphere 2.5 has all the modern polys and monos built in with the hardware profiles… and if I’m honest sounds bigger than the Virus.
Virus does seem to have its own sound and seems “analog” even though it’s digital but I also wonder if that’s just perception as I know that it’s hardware…?
In all seriousness, I think that if something works with you then it’s worth keeping. I have a variety of old machines that are borderline obsolete but I enjoy using them so I keep them.
Quick question: is Omnisphere’s interface resizable? I use native resolution on my Macbook, so–for example–Reaktor is simply unusable unless I change my computer’s resolution every time I want to use the app. Arturia V apps, on the other hand, all have about 6 choices of user interface size.
Yes, the option is called “Magnify window” and can be accessed if you alt-click anywhere on the panel. The GUI also makes parts that you work on bigger like filter, envelopes, etc.
