Absynth 6

Damn now I want Absynth on my MPC. Even a port of the older version would be a Nice Thing.

Same. All free too

Is this really happening? :open_mouth: I can hardly believe it. Since the deal with Brian Clevinger for a successor fell through, I had actually given up hope that there would ever be a successor. I mean, I love Plasmonic’s Rhizomatic, but it’s its own original—and Absynth is Absynth! I’m glad that NI might still give us something to be happy about. After all the disappointments for synth lovers, this is a real ray of hope. I’m really looking forward to it!

PS. NI, could you please revive KORE, too? I miss it terribly and still haven’t recovered from the shock of not having multiple parameter assignments on an encoder on MASCHINE—including relative and inverted value ranges and morphing across eight XYPads, as this was once possible with Camel Audio’s Alchemy, when it was still available to unworthy PC users… Well, at least Unify from PlugInGuru helps out, but… Oh, how I sometimes hate the misguided paths of music software development.

It’s a running joke over here :stuck_out_tongue:

Which means to say: I can’t say shit but please be excited.

This is the ā€œNI softieā€ I heard rumours about some time back (posted about it in the M+ thread) - Glad to see its finally dropping!

Be nice if NI went back to being an innovative synth developer and not a company mainly focused on sample packs and libraries etc.

I’m not sure I ever actually used Absynth, but I was always aware of it and this news has caused a massive stir so I’m certainly curious.

Absynth was certainly well ahead of its time when it was released (and with updates for a long time after) but it has a heck of a lot of superb competition now…still 25 years since it was launched and I remember it well (gez I’m old!) Here is a SOS review for nostalgia!

Actually it was of the reasons I started digging the hardware synths. Soft synths in later 2000’s and quickly evolved into complex beasts (however in SOS article it does not look as intimidating as I remembered it lol). I found Blofeld and Virus much more understandable. The single oscillator options on Absynth were much more complex than on any hardware of that time, not talking about the fx.
Based on the demo above, it sounds like they updated the engine to modern standards.

I just got Absynth 8.

Who’s your weed guy because I want the good stuff that you’re smoking sir

A single wheeled electric skateboard is a very sorry version of a hoverboard.

To keep on topic I will say that I’m excited to see what NI has planned for an Absynth successor.

See AI as a Buzzword like, ehm, analog in VSTs back in the 90s….

Edit: The link is currently down. It is expected to be back online at 15:00 CET (Central European Time).

Thanks for sharing. No need for the AI preset browser. But other than that it sounds better than expected. Might be a nice Christmas gift for myself
