Abstrakt instruments avalon bassline

so, any 303 lovers jumping on this? looks great in the videos

I have been watching that one closely. That price though. Idk.

I went ahead and ordered one. I guess I’m too old… I never tire of the classic 303 sound…however, I wasn’t willing to pay what vintage 303s are going for either. I thought about building the sound in my modular but the price got up there so I held off…then this thing came along.

I watched the build video on the Avalon and they are using quality parts…the filter cartridge system is nice too. It’s like the tb303 evolved.

To the people that don’t love the 303 sound or to the people that are tired of it, it will be too expensive.

Otherwise, I think the synth itself is actually worth the price they are charging (obviously, I would have liked to see it cheaper).

I have a sneaking suspicion that one of these will be in my possession in the relatively near future.

Whilst not a mad acid head, though I once had 4 TB-303’s at the same time and sold them a ll, and later on had a x0xb0x, having a good 303 / emulator can always be fun / useful.

What I really would like is a Devilfish, but they go for crazy prices on top of the crazy prices for a TB-303

$950 is on the pricey end, I guess its fair, as Bryan really knows his stuff and the Avalon looks like it has quite a few tricks up its sleeve.

And in comparison to what, $500/$600 for a x0x / TT-303 to $2k/$3k for a TB-303 or ??? for a Devilfish.

another clone! sounds ok maybe a bit tame on youtube.
Rusty, do you mean Robin? nice work with the editor btw

Aye

Nah, I meant Bryan @ Abstrackt, it was a badly worded sentence, now fixed.

Though Robin sure knows his stuff as well!

Thanks. But we’ll see if it actually works first…

After checking out the Avalon, tt303, and xoxbox for last month. I came across a xoxbox locally for a good price. So I grabbed it.

I was thinking to mod it out. Maybe the xoxio? Seems like that could take it to the next level.

:joy: oxymoron surely?
Still have an original x0xb0x kit.
Have had it for 5+ years. Just not had the courage to subject it to my questionable soldering skillz. One day.
That Avalon looks great. Maybe a tad pricey for what is essentially a fairly limited mono synth w/sequencer, but if the build and sound quality is good, not entirely unreasonable.

While it is pricey I do intend to get one.

I really like the fact that the attention to detail is paralleled in the build quality. I love those nord style buttons.

The quality has inspired a lot confidence in me overall. Hopefully it will be something I can buy and it will last and be easily serviced if it ever needed it down the line.

Well in the end it all comes down to how the Avalon really sounds. I am waiting for the comparison video between the TB-303 and the Avalon, which the avalon guys hopefully have ready soon. But I agree, could be a great 303 clone.

Cheers
