About MIDI tracks

Hi, i got an issue :

on the synth i have SBANK E Patch/program 050, in OT i have (so) set to SBank 4 (from zero, not 1…) & program 49, normal.

so i have recorded my pad with Chromatic MIDI , it plays Ok from 1/64 to 64/64, but when it goes back to 1/64 it changes to sBANK A program 001 on the Blofeld.

did i miss something?

Did you press Yes (or push the respective Encoders) to accept the changes on the OT?

Are you sending Programme Change messages in MIDI Sync?

In Grid Recording Mode, hold a Trig and check if the SBank (or any others) is in reversed colors.

Is the Autochannel on a different Channel than your synth?

This is possibly the cause of your problem.

(All?) the Elektrons send Programme Change messages when playing patterns, so that other Elektrons (and some other drum computers & sequencers) can “follow along” when the patterns change. E.G. play pattern A1 then A2 on your OT and a A4 or AR should also play pattern A1 and then A2.

BUT… these are Programme Change messages, the same kind of message that tell your synths which timbre to play. So in your case, your OT is sending both the “timbre” programme change, and the “pattern” programme change. Your synth can’t tell the difference between a PGM CH for pattern and a PGM CH because they look just the same and it doesn’t know patterns exist… so it changes timbre twice because that’s what It thinks it’s been told to do.

i dont understand well but what i must change ? it seems it changes program at 64/64.

Are you trying to synchronise another sequencer or drum machine with your OT?

If no, then you can turn off the Send Programme Change in Sync options.

[PROJ] -> MIDI -> SYNC -> PROG CH SEND [ ]

If you do want to synchronise another sequencer or drum machine with your OT, then you need to change one of these:

either the MIDI Channel that the OT sends sync messages on ([PROJ] -> MIDI -> SYNC -> PROG CH Ch) and the MIDI Channel your seq or drum machine receives
or the MIDI Channel you use for your synth (change the synth’s receive channel and the OT’s send channel for the MIDI Track. you are using)

i putted Ch.1 now it’s ok, but if i want to send to another synth ? it’s a general setting no ?

i must let to AUTO normally for sending to CH1 Blofeld CH2 JP-08 etc…

seems like there a p-lock on trig 1/64 but tried to verify and maybe done bad…

Are you using a sequencer on the Blofeld and JP-08? Do they even have sequencers? I don’t know…

If not, then you can turn off SYNC Prog Ch (like I wrote before) and never worry about this again.

it happens ONLY in CHROMATIC Trigger mode. Like when i play a chord… it’s like he record a patch program…

i re-recorded chords, now it seems ok.

why i need enable PROG CHANGE in MIDI if i have a drum machine?
