Keeping things lively by flipping myself in Ableton Note:
Really like the app. Captures the spirit of ‘fun’. Hopefully Ableton keep developing it. Things tend to get pigeonholed as for this type of music or that but the challenge is always to innovate.
Excellent stuff! Curious as to how you put this together though, as I haven’t really dived into Note as I should
Thanks. I’m using a couple Drum Racks with Samples (Chords, Bass, and vocals and textures) and a couple synths to accompany it all.

I’ve been getting into Ableton Note recently. I’m using it split-screen with other apps, mostly Koala, with the OP-1 F as a controller and USB audio loopback device to get samples into Note.
It works very nicely, and everything, including Koala, exports nicely into Big Ableton.
I’ve just realized that you can sample straight into Drum Rack pads, and into the Simpler in Ableton Note. This makes it even more annoying that you can’t do it in Live/Push!
Ableton note is pretty great
Just tested out the project cloud link and that was really handy! Can take a while on bigger stuff but damn it’s so convenient.
Killer workflow, i so wish this finds its way into Live/Push. For now i use it for sample sessions and then transfer it to Live
I might do the same. It might even be quicker
So – now Note includes a Live Lite licence. Which means Ableton Live in its most stripped-down version is just a few euros/dollars. Of course, a lot of people already have a licence that was bundled with a USB interface or midi controller. But still – for what you get it’s a steal. For someone just getting into music production it would be my first recommendation – get Note, install Live Lite on your computer, start experimenting.
It’s been awhile since I was on Lite, and I just checked the feature list again – I didn’t realize even it got Drift!
What you’re getting with Lite these days is an incredible place to start if you’re new to Ableton. I can still remember when Lite was restricted to two VSTs per project, which was barely enough to try it out; the current limits are enough to produce entire albums with if you’re resourceful.
It sure is. And with all the fantastic freeware around – Surge XT, Dexed, Cardinal modular, NI Komplete Start, the free U-HE synths et c – the albums will sound pretty good too!
Slow to the party here but this is actually really fucking nice
