Ableton Move : User Thread

There´s no other way to mute the speakers on Move, so you have to have a dummycable anyway but thanks for the tip with the mic.

Trying to disable internal speaker ( if that option exist ) but as we know WIN 10 ( or 11 ) is not Sound Card aggregator friendly so i’m testing using ASIO4ALL but still the sound out of it ( compared to other sound in the Session ) sound pretty awful or definitely not like the Headphone Output. I did disable the Mic leaving the recording to Sample ( which I gues should be internal or USB ? ) still awful, and the Input level is what you control with the Volume knob…don’t know if that is helpful

Thi machine is pretty dope

I just got mine, had it about an hour. Turned it on, 10 minutes later had a track- easiest machine to work with ever…this will be my go to if I just have a half hour…fast, fun and sounds great. I did have an OP-Z and this is easier (screen and pads!) - you can see the pads (notes) lit up and press the note and the step on the sequencer to step record or change notes etc, super easy. Capture seems to work amazingly well and know where to put the phrase! Its so fast to build something with copy and change then you have a session to play with…that buts pure ‘Live’.

Build is pretty premium (a bit heavier than I was expecting), built in speakers a bit better than I was expecting (but I expected little)- loud enough! Like the round PSU

Not sure if its been mentioned but pressing shift then turn a knob gives fine control on everything I have tried.

This is my #1 missed effect so far. I use it all the time for basic tremolo and machine gun am/rm type sounds. It can’t take that much cpu.

One day in and the Move has already utterly spoiled me for sampling. I’ll be keeping my Digitone, maybe even sequencing it from the Move at some point. But I can’t see a reason to keep the Digitakt.

Even Koala is starting to look less amazing. Almost.

With its sampling, the Move even makes the Push and/or Live seem clunky.

It’s like Ableton saw Koala and the OP-Z and said, hold my beer.

My Move arrived today. Wow, I didn’t expect such a high-quality device. It’s surprisingly heavy, looks great and the controls (whether buttons or encoders) are outstanding.

Unfortunately, I already had my first disappointment: The USB MIDI connection between my beloved Micromonsta 2 and the Move seems not to work.

It’s not a user error (like wrong settings or cabling) because I can control my MC-101 without any problems. And I can also play the MM2 as soon as I use a class-compliant USB MIDI cable.

But it should also work via USB cable, because the MM2 is class-compliant and does not overload the Move’s USB power supply.

I have now written an e-mail to Samuel (developer of the MM2) and hope that he has a solution.

100% wet Delay with short repeat and high feedback should do the trick, I think. Also the Loop FX on individual pads.

I tried the delay and couldn’t get it choppy enough, but Loop FX could definitely be the ticket

Yep, bye Digitakt!

I’ve made more good stuff on this in 2 hours than I did in a year and a half using Digitakt, and it was (nearly) half the price!

You can disable Sync in Delay (at least in Live you can) and then should be able to get very choppy.

Ok, I feel like a dunce. How do I open an empty drum rack to sample into? I can’t find whatever menu they live in.

There are empty template Track Presets at the bottom end - use one of those.

I didnt even use my own samples yet, I am having so much fun just making patterns with the stock drums and Synths and resample… …

Aha! Didn’t open the Templates section, oops. Sampling is so simple, to the point I feel I’m missing something. Incredible.

Fits well (Analog Cases Crave/TD-3 Case)

First major bug: turned it off, got stuck on the Goodbye screen. Left it there for 15 mins, hoping it would shut off on its own. Holding power and the big knob for 10 seconds seems to have forced a shutdown.

can anybody confirm/ explain that you can have 4 minutes of audio on a pad but cannot play the full 4 minutes of audio on that pad but rather only 60 seconds?

and if so why?

You can use the Gate playback mode (instead of Trigger) and just put a one, long note in the sequencer. Don’t know how long 16 bars of 16 steps is, though. Depends on tempo I guess?
