Thank you for trying and reporting back!

Hi, does anyone know if it’s possible to change between the 32 sets using MIDI commands? Specifically, I’m wondering if I setup Syntakt as a master if it would be possible to send program change messages (or the like) to switch between sets? I have a gut feeling the answer is no but want it to be yes:)

No, unfortunately that’s not possible.

Ok, thanks for that. Pretty sure I asked a similar question some months back but I had also heard that MIDI integration improved with the latest firmware, so I had my hopes up…

I remember a discussion on Ableton’s discord that this is pretty much ruled out as the loading time of each project is a bit unpredictable and could not be tightly timed, so I would not count on this coming

Unfortunate

Yeah I have some sets where I’ve maxed out 4 drum racks with 64 long samples. There’s no way those are ever going to be able to load instantly.

I chased this down with their beta support team.

If you reset all settings on the iPad it then provides access to all 4 MIDI ports and you can send MIDI to the Move over USB-C. Have suggested they mention it in the release notes.

It’s a pretty nice implementation in that if you leave tracks on their default setting (MIDI in = auto) it only sends midi to the active track.

What’s your workflow when you move these into Live? I mean when you try to split the rack into tracks.

I record bass and guitar loops into drum slots and it’s a bit tedious to convert them into warped loops

I haven’t taken any Move sketch through to a finished track in Live yet so who knows. I’m also not talking about recording loops into it, but I have a bunch of kits I made with like sustained notes from a certain synth, mellotron sounds, etc. So in a given set I might not be using every one of the 16 pads, it’s more like a big sound library and then any sound I like I can play chromatically. I imagine I might just duplicate the drum rack for each voice and solo and bounce track in place, then just deal with audio.

Just wondering, what do you mean by “reset all settings on the iPad” in this scenario?

I had a problem where I couldn’t send MIDI from the iPad to the Move over USB-C, because the iPad could only see 2 of the 4 MIDI ports that the Move has. The iPad needs to be able to see the “Standalone” MIDI port to be able to send MIDI to the Move.

If you have the same issue you might want to try resetting all settings, as I was recommended to do by Ableton. On the iPad went to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPad > Reset > Reset All Settings

This worked for me, I now have two-way MIDI and Audio available over a single USB-C cable between the Move and the iPad… and I also have a CME Widi Bud Pro Bluetooth MIDI adapter I will need to sell…

I’ve just bought a move again, waiting for it to arrive in a few days. It seems to have matured with the latest updates. I just wanted to check, can I plug it directly into my Syntakt and send audio to the ST whilst they are both in sync with the one USB cable ? Thanks

No, you’ll need to connect the Move and Syntakt with a USB-A to B cable, but the Move’s USB-A host doesn’t support audio.

Thanks. So I can send midi over the USB cable, and audio over normal audio cables ?

Yes, that’s right. Just keep in mind that this setup can sometimes cause a ground loop, so it’s safer to use an isolator or a USB-to-DIN MIDI cable.

Couldn’t find this in the manual, possible I overlooked it - but does anyone know if it’s possible to control the pans and sends of a track in Control Live mode?

at the moment it’s only possible with midi mapping
