Sample to set length, measure or bar is a must for a sampling machine! When the SP404 was updated with it, totally changed the way I used it for the better.
It’s not a perfect piece of kit, but what Move has done is given me a reason to just spend an hour creating instead of weighing myself down with the news or browsing Reddit.
It rewards taking chances, playing and having fun and I find myself smiling at what I’ve made with it and my A4. I’ve got 5 or 6 sets that will go into Ableton at some point to add guitar and fine tune, but it’s just a joy to own. I’m sure Ableton will continue to add features and refinements and I hope they don’t lose what makes Move wonderful in the process.
You guys have some to recommend? Or is it all pretty much the same quality aka a bit of cable with a knob on it and that’s it?
I see Centercode has been updated with documentation for the Move public beta, so expect that’s gonna launch pretty shortly.
I connected the microfreak via usb (which also powers it) and while it receives and sends MIDI there’s a really loud noise coming IF I CONNECT IT TO THE MOVES INPUT.
The MFs headphones out is fine in this case
and when i power the MF with its normal wall brick power adapter it sounds fine to.
Some kind of feedback loop thing I guess…
Anyone else experienced something like this?
What about synths that can only be powered via USB like Dreadbox Typhon?
Start recording on play is there, at least for resampling.
Check out the page below. To avoid noise, use a ground loop isolator or connect via USB-MIDI interface.
Move is great device for live jamming, but one thing all dawless players are really missing out is the MIDI IN CLOCK SYNC from external gear… Wish it will be added in the next update.
This is super cool! Free sounds for our move too! Free Pack: Sounds from the Polish Radio Experimental Studio | Ableton
Wow. This is really cool. Never heard of this initiative! Thanks, man!
I’ve never bought one but yeah it should just be a jack, a cable, and a potentiometer. I wouldn’t overthink it. There are a bunch of options on amazon.

didn’t see you had already posted this, I just posted it in the software deal section
move still only sends midi out on 1 track right? i can’t midi out on 4 tracks simultaneously
does it matter so much which device is supplying clock? There’s already MIDI IN/ CLOCK OUT
Or if you are supplying MIDI OUT to multiple devices before arriving at the Move, consider Linking it to the the move
seems to me, you win some you loose some, and there will always be more configurations to consider
Correct, and it is fixed to channel 1. And you can only receive OR send MIDI.
That’s my Octatrack’s wish as well.
Any of you all have the Move and the KO2? Just curious if the TE box brings anything different to the table. I suspect for me the Move is all I need, but wondering how they compare.
KO2 is much more fun for performance features like punch-in effects. Move is more focused on production, so it doesn’t offer as much in that regard.
Add a korg nts-3 to your move and you’ll have more and better punch in stuff then KO.
Yeah I had a buddy offer me his KO for nothing, but I’d rather just save my cash. Buying gear I don’t really need just because it’s at a good price isn’t my thing anymore.
Plus I have the OG PO KO and I think that has a cool character to it, I can sample it into the Move or Push.
