Ableton Move [Archived]

Ok that’s a possibility, but still very inconvenient and I can’t believe Ableton would do something like that.

No screen on lots of devices with rotaries like OP-Z, Novation Circuit etc- even a small screen is a blessing! If its a good screen it probably gets as much info on it as an Electron Box!

I agree. It’s fun to adjust params with your ears. Except chopping samples of course.
But it connects you more with your music.
I mean… you’re not supposed to do mastering on these portable devices

I remember Circuit Rhythm was super fast in this regard. OP-Z as well.

That’s actually the exception. They’re selling only direct unless they can’t because of:

Sorry, that definitely wasn’t the case for a long time after release.
It’s still not available in Poland, for example.
I had to buy directly from Ableton.

I’m still waiting and hoping for that ideal controller that will allow me to cut out the mouse entirely. Push is focused on the session view and I’ve never liked the session view so it does not work for me. #stillwaiting

ah, makes sense, but still, Sweetwater/Amazon have full international shipping so I guess you could buy it from where ever, right?

you can’t order from Sweetwater or Amazon to Poland?

Yeah, maybe.

I think I’ve created for myself a vision of Move to be something like a bigger Gameboy or similar to Tracker Mini, so my mind is doing everything it can to reject the leaked form-factor and implied workflow

Yeah I guess you could. But would probably pay import duties on top. All hypothetical though as I can order straight from Ableton in the Netherlands

Why would I order delicate hardware that would have to be shipped from US, if Germany is right next to Poland?

It wasn’t a problem for me that it’s only sold by Ableton.

I was just stating the fact (which, it turns out, I got wrong or at least it changed).

you would pay these regardless where you buy from, in case of Amazon I think they pre-calculate taxes into the price before purchase

the only reason is no direct shipping or local reseller

Hm, session view was/is kind of the USP of Ableton Live, they invented it and i love the fact that we´re not tied to a timeline anymore. I´m sure you know that you can record an arrangement in realtime in to the arrangement view. I this context Push made so much sense since day one, to me anyway.

You didn’t get it wrong and it didn’t change. It’s a matter of certain territories’ policies otherwise they would only sell direct worldwide. Japan, the source of said «leak» is among the territories ableton sells direct to, which further calcifies my position it’s a fake.

Am I the only one hoping for a compact sound module that can be controlled via CC without having to open Ableton, one that only needs about a quarter of Ableton’s stock synth and FX offering and isn’t very interested in the groovebox features? I know that’s not what you should expect from a device like this, but who knows maybe even if it’s not designed for that purpose, it could do the job just fine.

Not to me I’ve never liked it never used it I pretend it doesn’t exist, don’t like when I accidentally press only tab instead of control tab and session view comes up :joy:

You mean like old synth rack modules, that needed a MIDI controller (keyboard) to operate? I don’t think that would warrant the “Move” name…

You can’t buy Push 3 from Amazon in Germany. If you order from sweetwater the price would be 2.168 EUR including import tax so much more expensive

I know it will most likely be some sort of groovebox, but I’m hoping it could be a compact version of Ableton’s stock offering and work as a multitimbral sound module, even if that’s not its primary purpose. I’d be more than happy with just four tracks of Wavetable, Analog, and Operator, plus a handful of native FX, all fully controllable via MIDI.

I said it would probably come with Live Intro, meaning that the software instruments that come with Live Intro may be in Move itself then?
