Lucky you, I ordered on 8th afternoon and still processing.
is it somehow possible to nudge the whole sequence a few steps or a bar foward/backward?
Can the Push do what the Move can? Or has the Move got something else(apart from portability). I have a Push 2.
So many possibilities here with Push & Move but somehow i doubt Ableton goes that route. One could diy a lot with Max and the LiveAPI but for Move we“re out of luck if Ableton doesn“t feel the need to do this.
Push can do more by a lot but i think the beauty lies within Move“s restrictions.
So people with a Push can forget the Move in general?
The Move can sample directly into drum pads and also into the Simpler. And it can play back drum pads chromatically with 16 pads.
Cant the Push do this? Its been a while but chromatic was there.
No, not without splitting off the drum pad/Simpler slice into another midi track
On the Move you just tap the drum pad you want on the left 4x4 section, and play it back melodically on the right-hand 4x4 section. Instant. Even faster than Koala!
There are ways to do it on the Move alone, but itās a bit of a faff right now.
Best way is to upload your Set to Cloud⦠open it in Note, and shift them there.
Itāll sync back to Move nearly instantly.
When you have a Set in Cloud, you can work on it in Note and on Move simultaneously. Which is handy.
Sampling directly yes thats not available. Speed as well.
When they made the Move there must have been some tough decisions what to leave out.
@BuzzLightsout I have a Push 3 but I ordered a Move. I love the Push, but rarely use it standalone, and virtually never on my lap, or even away from my āstudio.ā
On paper the Move does much less, but in practice, the way it works seems way more conducive to just playing, and also using away from the desk. Itās also a rad Ableton controller which combines exactly what I needāsome knobs, a step sequencer, and pads, in a small package, convenient enough that I can put it on my lap along with a laptop.
Thanks. I guess workflow is its main argument.
i donāt have any apple devicesā¦
one more question: can you preview a trig like on the elektron boxes somehow?
Can I ask if I donāt want to use cloud manager, can I transfers sets via USB?
anyone else still waiting for their shipping status? ordered mine on launch day and still havenāt gotten any info
From the manual:
Move needs to be connected to Wi-Fi in order for Sets to be transferred. If Wi-Fi is off on your unit, Ableton Cloud will only begin transferring Sets when you connect to a network. If you disconnect Move from Wi-Fi or deactivate Ableton Cloud, any Cloud Sets that have already been synced to Move will remain on the unit.
So no. But I think that, as long as you are on the same wifi network, you can do the transfers with Move Manager, which just involves typing move.local/ into your web browser. No cloud required.
Lots more in the manual:
In loop mode, hold down the step buttons corresponding to the length of the region (two for two bars, for example) and long-pressing the left/right button will move the notes in the region one step.
My beloved digitone has four tracks of full synthesis-it will last the years. Different diverse sounds can always be found. After a honeymoon period, your ears will tire of the pre-sets -whatever you try, everything you make will feel samey.
I would say the mc 101 and the circuit tracks and rhythm are out-trumped and in danger/dead in the water. Let`s hope for a price war for black friday/christmas!
Or at least new features suddenly appearing off the hidden roadmaps (computer editor for the synths on my mc101 please).
At least the massive price increases for their boxes will be hard to justify. At least for me. Shure Digitakt 2 is a different Machine but Move even has the Edge in some regards.
