Ableton Move [Archived]

It probably has all the system and boot info on it being only memory storage of the device, would make sense then.

It because it’s bitcoin mining when your not using it

I’m surprised that the move only has 4 hour of life considering the size of the battery

If you look closly at the battery you will see it says LFP. It’s a LiFiPO4 Lithium Iron Phosphate battery. So it needs to be larger than an old school Lithium Ion battery in other gear, but it means it should last much longer before it needs to be replaced. It should still have 80% capacity even after 2500 cycles, so you may not need to replace it for 6-10 years or more.

seems so strange they wouldn’t slap 3.5mm midi I/O, cv, click. quirky sampling workflow. Cant tell if they gimped it to not replace push. or if a move 2 wont be long like the push series. opz nod on the sequencer but zero of the fun functions like step components or punch ins. Rpi is hilarious.

some cool stuff though. cap sense knobs working in tandem with the screen is awesome. affordable MPE. the capture functionality. sd card! A couple more features and this woulda been my holiday gift but as is the roland p-6 is still it!

I wonder if anyone has installed rasbian and tried to pull drivers. has ableton even published their OS?

edit- not mpe :frowning:

The pads are NOT MPE.

hmm i also wonder if a correctly keyed ssd could work in that wifi slot. not sure who that helps… if only this had more IO maybe a large community of software could/would come for it. seeing rpi in commercial products is still so strange to me.

Awesome! thanks for the info

Wow many thanks for the pics! I really enjoy this stuff. Ist that a raspberry board?

Edit: just saw it says it right on the board :man_facepalming:t3:

That means it could be replaced later with a v5 for more cpu power

So seeing as there’s a SD card, could you clone it to a larger one to expand the available sample memory?

I’m cloning SD cards!

sounds great, thanks for sharing your thoughts. sounds like it could be very close to what i need (want). looks like i will be ready to pull the trigger after reading a few more reflections like this and hear some proper techno made on the move.

Btw. Ableton offers 30 days return. 14 is just for software.

Push, Move and Upgrade Kit

Push, Move and the Upgrade Kit can be returned within 30 days of purchase in all regions. For details, contact our Support team with your order invoice number. We will honor the 30-day period even if you only contact us on the last day, so there is no need to send the device on your own.

Well… it even has 909 kits and acid presets built in so that shouldn’t take long :sunglasses:

Replying here @RabidMusic to keep from clogging up the Users thread like what we did to the Push 3 Users thread early on.

Yeah, shipping in the US has been terrible lately, and Sweetwater is frequently a lot slower to ship than they used to be. I suspect sometimes retailers are listing things as available a day or two ahead of their ability to get them shipped out. Perfect Circuit has done that to me before. I don’t believe it’s nefarious, probably a function of high demand or logistics being tough.

Packages bouncing around the country, though - that stuff drives me insane. I recently had a UPS package go from 3 hours from me to Chicago to my hometown back to Chicago to Atlanta back to my hometown where it sat for 2 days before being delivered.

I always order 2 day shipping with Sweetwater…only once or twice was it longer than 2 days…I’ve ordered over a hundred items from them. 2 day, never ground, ever.

I’m a state or two over from the Arizona Sweetwater warehouse, ordered in the (very) early hours on launch day, and mine arrives today. I guess I got lucky!
