Ableton Live & Midi Sync delay with Elektron gear

Hi there.

I spent a while getting my midi devices sync’d with Live and for the most part they’re synced when playing. However, the very fist note when I start Live seems to be way off.

On the A4 it seems to affect the delay time, you can hear it go from fast to sync and with the MD the first note is really out, but then the rest are sync’d.

I’ve taken a screenshot of the MD pattern that was recorded. See how far out the fist note is.

So my question is; is this a Live thing? A Midi thing? Or an A4 / MD thing? And how might I fix it?

This doesn’t happen if I have a small lead in time - it’s almost as if the Midi needs to stabilise before going in sync.

Really annoying.

Any help would be really appreciated

I’m guessing you’re using Ableton as the master?

Sad to say it’s a MIDI thing, and in particular an Ableton thing.

You can set a midi offset/delay in Ableton, other more permanent options would be to get a midi clock sync/generators.

Also, make sure your midi interface/drivers are up to date.
