Ableton Live 12

Yeah Autofilter is a tweakers delight now. And with all the stereo modulation it can be almost like a QPAS.

I’m actually most happy with the DJ filter. Simple addition but so useful in a lot of racks.

Every time I load up the Auto Filter I get the old legacy version?

I have to load a preset to get the new one. How do I just get the new version as standard I wonder?

That’s weird! Works without issues here

Don‘t use it via the orange ‚replace‘ symbol. Drag and drop it from the browser

That is what I’m doing, dragging and dropping, double clicking etc.

Is there a way to right click and “set as default”

I think it might be related to their default pick, good call

Yes but I can only open the new effect via the preset browser, so it would save that special effect as the default state, I don’t want that. I just want the init patch to open.

Odd! Time for a support ticket.

If you see this in your userlib/defaults, delete it

Thanks but that’s not it.

All the new presets are mixed together with the legacy presets too, I think it’s all gone wrong!

Load the new one and save it as a default preset.
You probably overwrote it before.

Just a guess

EDIT: I see others already suggested that.

This happened to me too. It’s because Live hasn’t scanned the new core library properly, once it does that it will be fine.

Not sure what I did to initiate the scan, but fiddling around with stuff eventually brought the onscreen scanning notification. Maybe try restarting Live with an internet connection active (that doesn’t mean Live needs the internet now, but it will check for available content etc).

I’m out of ideas but presume it’s something like this.

Guess I’ll just have to wait but I’ve had the update open and re-opened for a couple of hours now. Remarkably slow if that’s the problem!

totally

loving vowel and comb already also, the side chaining and stereo options make this a really powerful tool!

It happened to me, all I did was reload live and the new version was there.

I have a question, since Ableton 12.2 came with bundled M4L 9.0.7 and I also use Max 9.0.7 standalone, I see that Ableton opens M4L devices (in the editor) in the same version but with the Max 8 icon? Is this normal and can someone please check? Max 9 has a different and uglier icon (unfortunately).

I had this. It was a bit weird tbh. The first time I opened Live post-update it would only load the old one. Then I relaunched and it starts the new version by default. Maybe some recompiling happening in the background? Worth doing a system restart as well I’d imagine if anyone else runs into this one.

Still no changes here. It’s been hours and hours since the update.

I don’t think it’s happening at this rate :joy:

New version is there but it’s hiding behind new presets.

I can’t just load it!
