A4 with ext keys plus octa configure

I want to have midi out of the OCTA into the A4 to keep everything in sync but I also want to use an external keyboard for the A4.

At the moment I can just do one or the other.

How are you getting this set up to work?

External Kbd. out -> OT in.
OT out -> A4 in

Now choose the midi channels on the Keyboard and the A4 different from the OT, and voila, midi chain setup.

Keyboard midi out to OT midi in. OT auto channel set to 11 (which is the standard auto channel). Then ot midi out to A4. A4 set to Midi channels 1-4. Now on the OT, go to the midi sequencer and assign a track to Midi channel 1 (double tap playback, click down on encoder when chosen). Now make sure your midi keyboard is set to send on channel 11. While the midi track on the OT is selected (the one we set to Midi channel 1) you will be able to play the A4 (track 1) via the midi keyboard as long as that midi track is selected in the OT. A bit complicated I know but I hope that helped.

You can actually pass the midi messages straight through the octa without having to have a midi track selected.

The trick is to not use the Auto Channel.

Just set the midi channel on your keyboard to the same channel as one of the midi tracks on the octa.

Heres a resumé of what i did

Key - send midi channel 1
OT - autochannell 1
A4 - idem

OT midi menu notes and CC set to INT
OT midi track 1 - activate midi channel 1

With this setting the transport and pattern changes all still work
And the keyboard will play the active track on the A4

magic!!!
