I’ve been pulling my hair out for days trying to get midi between my iPad and A4!
This thread ANALOG FOUR & iPad DM1 shows that people were able to use the Camera Connection Kit, and yet every time I try to plug my A4 usb into the CCK it gives back a “This device is unsupported” error.
…doesn’t Strom require the CCK?
Does anyone have a tip or any experience with these?
you need to disable Overbridge mode. It’s in GLOBAL > SYSTEM
I’ve not tried to get my A4 and iPad Air to communicate with one another.
However, the message/graphic you posted was the same one my old Bass Station 2 would display when I tried to get it working with iPad.
This cheap little hub splitter, connected to CCK’s USB end, tricked the two into working together, and was recommended at the Audiob.us iOS forum.

Just out of curiosity, why are you wanting to plug an ipad in? Sysex dumps? I ask because I have an ipad too and just wondering if I missed a groovy trick 
because you could make a control surface to your specs (or keyboard with virtual joystick) in Lemur (or similar)
Actually I wanted to midi sync my a4 with some iPad drum machine apps
