A4 sequencer limited?

Is it just me? I keep reading about how powerful the elektron sequencer is, but I keep running into things it can’t do.

I can’t enter in more than one note on a step. I can record more than one note on a step, but if for example, I hold two notes down and add a third later in the sequence it can’t even record it. (I’m using a ‘tru’ arp)

If i’m playing the keyboard and I hold one note and tap another then it will revert back to the original note but it won’t record this.

Am I doing it wrong? Do I need to buy a cirklon?

You need to enable Poly to do that.
Shift + kit
Poly config
Enable how many voices you want.

Sequencer on the A4 is pretty powerful. It’s not the Cirklon, no where near but then again it interfaces in a way Cirklon won’t. Theres plenty on here about that

ok, I’ll try that, it’s not actually playing more than one note at a time though.

Yep it’s 4 mono synths unless you config poly!

To answer your other point, you want to use note slides when sequencing to get the same effect.

But an arp only uses one mono synth at a time. I’m only using one voice I just want to be able to enter notes into the sequencer.

Thanks guys I was beginning to lose my mind a little.

Not necessarily, you can do poly in arp. You can also program chords in step mode, and tbh, i’m not exactly clear about what you are asking in OP, obviously the sequencer has limitations, is your understanding of the nature of this sequencer limiting what you can do with it or are you assuming it will be like a daw, you have to remember it’s a step sequencer at heart, the way it handles overlapping notes etc will be different. You also have to think about how the arp parameters can get recorded in realtime mode, a lot of misunderstanding arises from assumptions. I think it’s very powerful as a sequencer, you just have to learn how it works and how it differs from your expectations. Esp re pitchbend aftertouch legato etc etc, the magic comes from mastering what it can do in real time without menu diving and that is worthy of praise. I think if your points were less ambiguous you’d maybe get some answers yay or nay about what it can do !
