Hi there dear folks,
do say if there are there any disadvantages, maybe like phasing issues, if I don’t pan hard left/right when routing the four synths directly to an external mixer, please?
Thanks for an answer to this newbie question.

Hi there.
The outputs on the A4 are Stereo for each track.
What mixer are you using? If you plug it in as a Stereo Pair, as I do on my Zoom R16, it’s picked up as Stereo.
Otherwise you need to split it with a Y cable and pan one left and one right, to whatever amount of separation you desire.
The A4 will manage your panning amounts between the channels automatically.
Thanks so much, RustyRoses. I wasn’t aware of the individual outputs transmitting stereo.
Sorry for coming back to this. I think I didn’t ( and don’t) think and write very clearly. I use the four single (stereo) outs to route audio into four mono tracks of an allen & heath mix wizard mixer to be able to send them further to external send/return FX, while I route the FX of the A4 into one stereo track of said mixer. I did this just like that, assuming the individual outs of the A4 were stereo. Now, I’m panning the individual tracks hard left/right (some seem to sound either left or right randomly). So, do I f*** with the signal or is this okay? To my hearing the only difference of the hard left/right pan is an increase in volume.
I’m not sure what you mean by “f*** with the signal” and “okay”?
It’s your gear and your sound, so you can make it how you like. In that sense, it’s “okay”.
Are the mixer inputs balenced? If they are, and you use cables with TRS connectors, that will cause problems. The mixer will use the L/R channels from the A4 in its untangling of the balanced input which will cause loss of level, loss of bass or phasing. In this case, it would be better to use TS cables and alter panning on the desk, not the A4.
If the mixer inputs are not balanced, you wont have a problem. Only the T connector of the cables will be used. In this configuration, pan on the A4 will work like a volume control.
EDIT: A quick check on the internet suggests that some models of Mixwizard have balanced mono inputs, so you should definitely connect the A4 with unbalanced TS cables for a more controllable sound.
Are you speaking about sound moving in the stereo field? That could be an LFO on Pan.
Keep an eye, as wrote above, to balanced/unbalanced signals.
Thank you very much, folks. I’ve balanced inputs and used TRS cables. It seems to be working fine, now. Thanks again.
