Hi guys!
Mi Name is Rodrigo Castro from Santiago, Chile.
I have a Question:
Hi, is it possible to sequence a roland mc202 from the cv gate of analog four?
If possible, can you tell me the step by step to connect both machines?
Welcome, CV gate settings for 90% of discussions will apply for you, just pick a synth, not a Korg/Yamaha - there are dozens of threads covering the basics
e.g.
Yes, BUT the 202 cv/gate input are known to be very bad due to passing the signal through the CPU before it controls the voice. This is so you can record into the sequencer but makes the triggering super lagged. There’s an easy mod that many do to bypass the CPU for this case.
Not sure, but it should be straightforward. However the MC-202 is without mods not very good at receiving external cv and gate. It lags due to the information going through the microprocessor.
The idea behind CV ins on the 202 was that you could program the sequencer with an external source. That’s why the incoming cv goes into the microprocessor.
Thankfully there are tons of documents on how to mod your 202 to make it more suitable as a sound module.
I modded mine back in the times with a Kenton kit. I don’t know if they still make it. Google tubbutec.de, they make the best lids out there.
Edit : oops I read your reply to quickly !
You can reduce the lag by putting the 202 in play mode, however the CPU will still quantise any pitch slides resulting in a stepped pitch rather than a slide.
The CV bypass mod is pretty simple to do, but I have the Tubbutec in mine now.
