Hi I have a question about the Poly config on the Analog 4.

So I have bank A pattern 1 and then I configure the Analog 4 for that pattern to use 2 voices so I use up tracks 1 and 2 and then I go ahead and program my pattern, all is good. However when I switch to bank A pattern 2 I don’t want 2 parts used I just want it that way if I set it to 10/20/30/40 for a specific pattern.

Am I doing something wrong here? So if I set the number of voices in the Poly config does this mean every pattern is gonna be hard wired that way no matter what? I’m confused I thought I could have say 1,2,3 or 4 voices for each pattern but I haven’t found how to do this. It’s just that I decided after using just 1 voice for about 8 patterns I then wanted a nice 2 voice pad sound so on bank A pattern 9 I set Poly config to 2 voices BUT once I switched back to Bank A patterns 1-8 then track 2 on all patterns (track sound was gone )

Anyone throw some advice my way? I’m hoping this Poly config can by applied to separate patterns and it’s not global or I just screwed up my days work.

Thanks

Rob

I may not be real clear on what you are asking but you can use the voices how you like. In the poly config, you don’t have to set all 4 voices for poly, however, even if you did, you wouldn’t have to use them poly in a different pattern…the exception being if you set unison, it’s going to use all the voices unless something else is using one.

Poly settings are saved at kit level iirc - if you save a kit per pattern then each pattern will have its own poly settings

Ok thanks guys I will try again today, maybe user error as I had already saved the kits and patterns before hand I must have made an error somewhere, it was if I had configured the poly global or something so need to check out what I did here.

Would love to see an elaboration on poly configurations in association with Saving and Kit/Pattern relationship in order to do exactly what OP Rob Lee posted here. The pdf A4/AK manuals are not exactly clear enough.

Would love to see the A4 Cookbook iBook to have a major update and elaboration of these type of things.

Something along the incredibly well-detailed “Definitive Guide To The DSI Evolver”, by synth guru, Anu Kirk.

Just to clarify it’s all to do with kits.
Say-
Song 1 uses Bank A Patterns 1-16
Song 2 uses Bank B Patterns 1-16

If they share the same Kit & you modify that Kit both Songs will be affected.
Poly/Parameters/Fx settings etc. are all saved with the Kit not the Pattern.
Its the Elektron way
