The topic title says it all - I think my 3 month old A4 kinda died.
Turned it on and at first it seemed totally dead - switched it off and back on again because I was freaked out and then I got a blank screen - nothing else.
It is not responding to anything I do.
I held Function when turning it on a third time to try to get to factory reset thinking it might do the trick but nope… nada
I contacted Elektron earlier today and I am waiting on a reply.
Any other advice or calming words of wisdom out there please?
Most definitely not using the wrong PSU - I have hardly any other units here and it would be fairly impossible to mix things up because I leave the A4 wired up anyway.
Probably looks like a return/exchange then. Haven’t heard of this behavior before. Normally people with multiple elektrons try the wrong psu and similar results can happen.
Exactly the same thing (except the burnt smell) happened to my Octatrack a few months ago. After a little delay, support got back to me and asked some basic questions. A little while later it went in for repair under warranty. It seemed from the repair report that a cable (from power supply to main board, I guess) had come loose. I imagine that it was a 5 minute job to fix it.
You will likely nee to send your AF to a repair centre (perhaps via your retailer) to get it repaired under warranty.
Thanks for your post and the link to your earlier experience -it seems like the same problem indeed (@PeterHanes)
I’ve still not heard from Elektron but after reading your story I expect not to hear for a while. Right now I find this extremely irritating though it is encouraging that others’s believed the turn around on these kind of issues was dealt with efficiently.
I contacted the online retailer where I bought the unit and am in the process of boxing it up to send everything back. I have all the packaging - everything in the same condition as when I received it - I am hopeful it will be resolved quickly.
