hi,
my a4 mk2 arrived a week ago. great machine. still exploring it.
from what i saw and heard so far, it seems that the delay-section in the a4 works very different
than the one in the dt.
lil example: on my dt i use a very short delay time and a high feedback value (<100) for a karplus strong like effect. so far i didn’t managed to do this on my a4.
when i raise the feedback value, the sound get much louder, distorted (even with ovr set to 0) and it also start to get tapped. actually i dont understand whats happening her.
of course the chorus on the a4 is dope but it wont give me this long ringing resonances that i would get with the dt delay.
any workaround?
thanks, j
Not possible to hear something with the DT delay like Dry and Wet… to better understand how you would like to set the A4 delay with failure in the settings ? (I don’t have a DT so…)
Overdrive and Feedback on the A4 MK2 sounds like a magnetic echo delay in a way…
SATURATOR DELAY
The Saturator Delay adds an echo-like effect to the audio. Thanks to the special features of this effect, it can also be used to subtly warm or severely distort the delay signal.
FDB (Feedback) sets how much of the delay output that will be fed back into the input of the delay. With higher parameter settings, in nite and/or swelling delays are possible to achieve. Please be aware that high feedback can lead to a very loud signal, and that the OVR parameter can further increase the feedback.
OVR (Overdrive) sets how much the delay signal will be overdriven. Please note that higher settings will affect the feedback of the delay.
There’s also multiple sends and returns levels knobs with FX to understand…
thanks william,
i guess the a4 delay its very different, with other strength…
yes, the manual already nails it.
regarding fx. you mean in the mix menu, right?
AMP sends (Synth sends to FX) and FX settings pages : both page… (FX can send to FX)
Because each one can send signals in the reverb, all can be adjusted
Sometimes i prefer on the delay page more level, and less sends level in the amp page
got it, thanks.
btw, what you mean by failure?
failed to replicate DT delay settings on A4 delay behavior …
i see, here you go:
everything is covered during the first 2 minutes. :–)
small delay time (1) and high feedback (99) wont result in a karplus strong like resonance on my a4 mk2.
at least for me.
also, i just noticed that on the digitakt you have a much fine precission on the delay time parameter encoder.
on the a4 mk2 its midi resolution: 127 values.

i will try tomorrow if I can end with something

Anyone here who kicks karplusstrong like effects with the a4? Maybe by using the filterfeedback?
It bugs me that iam not able to do basic physical modelling stuff with this otherwise pretty deep machine… Maybe i missunderstand how the saturator delay works…

Sorry completely forgot… damn

i think did some pretty karplussy sounds with the flanger in fast settings and feedback

I know what you mean. but even with feedback at max, the a4 chorus fx wont give you long decays.(> 1 s)
Btw. Did you guys also experienced a tapping (with ogher words a slow amplitude modulation like effect at something around 2hz) when set feedback to 99 and delay time to minimum? I guess its rate is bpm related…
