I’ve got A4mk2 recently as addition to my beloved digitone, one thing I’m struggling at the moment is the arpeggiator on A4 -
does anyone know if it’s possible to make it pick up notes (add to arpeggio pattern) as they overlap?
on digitone, if I have arped C5 on step1, and set the duration to 16 steps and then have E5 on step 9 and G5 on step 13, it will repeat C5 for 8 steps, then it’ll alternate C5-E5 until step 13, and then do a C5-E5-G5 for remaining 4 steps…
on A4 with same settings, each note is just repeating itself as the playhead picks it up (so I get 8xC5->4xE5->4xG5)
Add note offsets on the arp page?
Pretty sure that’s how it works on the AK…
In your case, C on step 1, C on step 9 (with one offset p-locked to +4) and C on step 13 (with one offset p-locked to +4 and one offset to +7).
Make all notes long enough.
thanks for the reply - I know I can add multiple notes to the arp steps on A4, it’s different than how it’s picking them up from the track on digitone though -
on digitone, if I change the length of the notes while playing the pattern, it changes their overlap, so the arp pattern can dynamically change… with A4, I can’t do that - just static “hardcoded” note combinations

I’m not positive but maybe A4 doesn’t react to note on offs in the same way as the digi boxes. To me a big difference between DT and OT was that midi notes can be added in over lapping instead of the fully paraphonic on off nature of the OT. On the A4 you might need to retrig the previous note along with the note you’re adding to get a similar effect. With each change you would have all the notes playing triggering.
